our level of americana is hopefully reflective of love for the musical traditions
Which are mostly based on British Isles folk music anyway.
Looking forward to it!

Of course, but with their own particular colour and seasoning.
Cheers! Please do say hello. I will be behind a guitar/banjo on the stage.

They were playing a free show in the car park of our local community radio station yesterday. Went down to have a look but it was so packed I couldn't face it, I'm becoming agoraphobic in my dotage.
Great band.

Excellent - The 4ZZZ ? Edit: No I think that show was Sunday.
The Moth Club should be great , can't believe it hasn't sold out yet.

Yup, that's the one. I should've stuck around really, been wanting to see them for ages. Next time!

Just grabbed tickets for the O. record release show at Rough Trade East in June. Really like what I've heard from them so far, very Black Midi/Melt Yourself Down sort of thing.

Looking forward to Lankum at Hackney Empire on Sunday 19th - saw them at the Roundhouse before Xmas and thought they were fantastic live, much stronger than just listening to them. Irish folk, but that doesn't begin to describe it!

https://www.hackneyempire.co.uk/events/lankumOwing to a degree of diary incompetence, we've got a couple of spare tickets, so if anyone's interested ...

Wide awake festival (never been before) -
King Gizzard were immense, playing a lot of their faster/heavy stuff.
Young Fathers were very good, don't really know their music though.
C.O.F.F.I.N - Superb in a small tent and joined by Ambrose from King Gizzard for 1 song.
Upchuck - New to me and great, early 80s style hardcore/punk which reminded me of Black flag/Circle jerks/Bad Brains.
Already bought tickets for next year.

Anyone want two tickets to The Bug Club at Seabright Arms this evening? Can't make it. Will just Dice them over.

Been going since the first brockwell park event and it’s always good fun. Definitely the busiest year I think which I imagine is due to King Gizzard and Slowdive.
Agree Gizzard were amazing.
Slowdive we’re good but I left them early to get a spot for Gizzard.
Squid also amazing as always but the crowd were a bit excitable. I’ll always get to the pit for them but people were starting stuff for every song where it just didn’t feel necessary to me.
The mixing for Dry Cleaning felt a bit off unfortunately. Not sure if it was where we were stood but could barely hear any vocals.
Crumb were also very good.

I've seen Dry Cleaning at a couple of festivals and the mix has always struggled a bit - intrigued to know if they fare better on their own shows

fare better on their own shows
I've seen them three times now, including a small album launch party. That was the only one which managed to nail vocals vs backing. It's tough though, the juxtaposition of her spoken lyrics vs the instrumentation for most songs means it'll never really work.
Still think they're ace live.

They played one of the tents at Wide Awake in 2021 which I think sounded good. But yeah as Soul says it's probably tough to get it bang on and I also wonder if they actively go for that kind of sound live.

Sadly I don't think I can make this tomorrow night. Happy to give the tickets away for free if anyone can make it, should be a cracking night. It is in Bristol.
Oooh, I like Nunhead Heights. I will bow to your more local knowledge (I'm ~20 mins walk away towards honor oak) and always think of Nunhead as the green/train station bit.
Please judge us gently, our level of americana is hopefully reflective of love for the musical traditions but we're very far from striving for authenticity... BUT, at least we don't imitate the accent!
