I hope that, as a pro cyclist, she has the power to not be scared of cycling.
I have friends that don't cycle anymore after incidents like this because they're scared.

I survived a near vehicular manslaughter / murder years ago on Norwood Road on a sunny Friday at noon. Let an ambulance overtake me passing Thames water roadworks, rode after them at a safe distance and fast speed to clear the way quickly. A motherfucking, brainworm rotting cunt in a grey van turning onto Norwood let the ambulance pass, looked at me, let me get too close to brake, and gunned it. My first thought as I skidded braking was ‘fuck, I’m about to smash face first into the solid side of this van’ as he blocked my lane. And then he kept turning. I was skidding at an angle, and I can clearly see in my minds eye now, 4 years later, how his front right wheel turned all the way to line up with me, with the driver looking straight at me.

By a pure fortunate unconscious instinct, my body knew to loosen my deathgrip on the brakes, and my tires regained enough traction to roll me enough out of the way of the van to barely avoid the mirror. I stopped in the road, yelled ‘Cunt!’ to the still speeding van, and the driver put two fingers out the window yelling ‘the light was red!’. There was no light for an easy hundred meters, nowhere near where the roadworks started for me or where he was, he was full of shit. His speed never slowed and his brake lights didn’t even blink.

After several interactions, the police did exactly fuck all. Logged it as a near miss traffic incident iirc, without any investigation.

Top tip to keep in mind: get witnesses’ contact details immediately, record plates of any vehicles that might have cameras at the scene, if cooperative witness offers help calling the fuzz in the moment take it, 999 operators will make it clear they don’t care what’s happening they just want to hear police/fire/ambulance, popo won’t believe you without witnesses and even then they might not do fuck all.

After several interactions, the police did exactly fuck all.

I have a policing initiative I’be been workshopping a while.

Basically shit drivers are dragged out there car and shot dead at the roadside preferably in front of family members, no one is allowed to move them for a few days so everyone sees the consequences of these kinds of actions.

I give it 5/6 months and we have really nice roads.

Similar story on a motorbike, the van had no insurance too. The van went round the keep left of a traffic light over taking two cars turning right. The van was turning right. Lots of witnesses, including an ambulance crew.

Yet Met tried to prosecuted me for not producing my documents! Nothing for the van driver.

Some people, when they get behind the wheel become the kind of people that should be removed from the gene puddle.

It is not shit drivers. It is those that use vehicles as weapons.

I was close-passed while walking on a pedestrian/car shared route in a cemetery today- implementing it there would save on cleanup and cadaver transport.

People driving like wankers in Cemetery’s is so weird. Have seen a strange amount of that now you mention it.

In this cemetery (I walk there a lot) it is usually people who are stressed and late for cremation services and have missed the signs to that building.

I know this because they almost invariably ask me for directions as they pass.

I haven't yet made the old quip about being late to one funeral, but potentially early to mine...

Hope they catch him and throw the book at him.

There are people that are incapable, or just blind. There are those that use a vehicle as a weapon, in a deliberate act, as the one mentioned up thread and people that complete a 'punishment pass'
