Tumbling in brickwork typical / traditional arrangement found on buttresses and chimney stacks.

Technical craftsmanship of the highest order, how they managed to tie this back to blockwork with such a raked angle, and the precision of the cut bricks

Considering the cut out inside the bricks, maybe even harder to cut to size.

Is that brickwork corner vertical? Or is the bottom of the corner closer to us than the top is? In any case, its a remarkable piece of craftsmanship.

What's the cornice you've got? (I've only seen the lighting in modern recessed ceilings, they kinda demand very smooth surface finishes) but cornices go back centuries, some to have frankly bonkers original paint schemes

The aim is to install a purpose-made modern cornice with LED uplighter in a room that has no cornice. The plan is well on its way. Cost is not trivial so I hope it will work as planned.

I have hands-on experience of cleaning a Victorian plaster cornice of a century of distemper and emulsion to reveal its detail. It was a long and tedious business, but much improved the room.

I'm looking for a (nice) door knob/handle that turns a spindle, and that is also one-sided, so that it is firmly attached to the door surface by its own 'rose', without needing to be clamped by another handle/knob on the other side of the door.

I'm finding it difficult to find such a thing... any suggestions for search terms/products much appreciated.

If only it were that easy... That Amazon one attaches to a bolt/latch; I'm looking for something that actuates a standard square-profile spindle, but is securely attached via only one side.

This is for a locking system, which requires a handle on the inside only, not on the outside.

I’ve not seen IRL.. I would like a closer look on site. The inner block work appears to have a vertical face, where as the tumbling in brickwork tapers on all corners

Traditionally this would be constructed entirely from brick several courses thick. How this is supported I am assuming a cut header back to block work with ties. Also noticed the variety of brick types used

Or "mortice knob" might be what you're looking for but they come in pairs?

^this. You ought to be able to use a normal twist knob of any style you like, cut the square bar shorter and not drill a hole for it on the outside. What is the locking system? Does it have a servo you can operate remotely or something? Or once you’ve gone out do you have to walk round to the other door …?!

I need some door handles for these old 4 panel doors.

General vibe of our house is mid-century light.

Totally clueless with wear to start. Also open to those funny button type catches as generally the only doors that will be closed shut will be the bathroom.
