Secondary cabal has informed me, after suggesting that I dimple the chainstay and follow the manufacturer's specifications (how one balances both of these I don’t know) that yes, the wider chain stays might need a wider bb even if the crankset says a certain size and I should just be able to slap a longer axel on
Might mess up the chain line tho
But chain line is fake?
Right?

But chain line is fake?
I am also a believer of this, I do not understand why fixie people get mad over 1mm diff in chainline but would ride a bike with 1x
-
• #4005
this is reasuring coming from a fellow bike preformance utilitarian like yourself
-
• #4006
I have also used a non njs BB on a DA njs crank on my fixie, fuck the rules
iirc 113mm UN55 where as recommended is 109mm JIS
-
• #4007
Its fake, Unless it’s super off and you throw the chain.
-
• #4008
yeah but it depends on the chain, no? 10+spd for your 1x, 7spd or 1/8" for your fixie? or am I just a sheep?

it's a 120 wheel in a 130 frame - we're looking at like 20mm or difference if i get the most snug bb i can
-
• #4010
maybe i'm stupid but in my mind chainline is from wheel centre ? so a 107/109 bb should give you a regular chainline on a 120 wheel, no matter dropout width.
I read that the chainring catches the chainstay so why not a centaur 111mm? or going further a UN 113 ?

i dont think i know how any of these numbers work
-

Get a framebuilder to chop out the chainstay and replace it with an e-stay.
-
• #4013
Get a custom crank CNC'd.
The Nature Boy All City were too sensible to consider.

i think you need to ask yourself, can you live with an out of line chain now that you know?
also, the silence from a perfect chainline is the purest joy. -

tbf any noise to drown out persistant london noises would be apreciated
-
• #4017
or are you just adding to the noise?

IMO chainline, toe overlap and skid patches are mathematical realities which have no interaction with the physical world as we experience it

to hear fixed jesus say these things, we're listening

Casual sheriff star pista hub on a lock-up bike is a winner ❤️
Rear spacing is 130mm where the Langster is 120 so yeah will be wider.
Fwiw I had a 111mm Campagnolo (ISO?) bb on there with Sugino 75s and a 47t chainring and it didn’t foul.
