He had a rough childhood with elder brothers doing horrible things to him. As an adult you could see he had confidence problems because there was a lot of fake bonhomie with men, trying too hard with friendly remarks which seemed forced because they were said with no charm or humour. I think the bodybuilding, the marriage and joining the military were attempts to be manly. I don't know how the interest in vulnerable little girls might fit in with all that.
Presumably he's having a bad time in prison. I wonder what shape he'll be in mentally when he's released? He can't work in medicine because he's been struck off permanently. Maybe his wife has stuck with him. She's kept his name and is still in the UK. She probably believes his excuse, that he thought the people in the chatroom were adults pretending to be kids. It all sounds like the buildup to a very disturbing TV murder series. I flatshared with the wife for a few months before they were married. One day they went to the RAF church on Fleet Street to get hitched. No guests, no honeymoon. It was explained that it made sense because it entitled him to a housing allowance and it got her a passport so she wouldn't need to renew her student visa. All this time he was cheating on her with the woman who owned the flat, who was also my ex girlfriend. The whole thing makes my skin crawl.

Twice working in Oil companies in Aberdeen. A Polish bloke who worked with IT for a while, got called to HR office one day and never came back to his desk, arrested by Police at reception for possession of child images.
Then some offshore geezer in a different company accidentally synced his iPhone to one of the company file servers and dumped a bunch of child pron images into a shared folder. Also gone in a flash. 😬

Similar happened at my work.
Four police showed up with warrant. Security said they’d get a supervisor and cops said let us in now or we will arrest you.
They knew exactly which desk to go to - in a four story building. Two put on white overalls and rubber gloves and started disconnecting a desktop computer. Several supervisors and managers tried to intervene but were told to get lost.
Police put the computer and keyboard in a bag and left. No explanation. They guy whose desk it was turned out to be a pedo. He was in the middle of an ugly divorce and his wife reported him.
He thought if he used a work machine nobody would trace it to him. -
Minor detail given what he did, but he was a doctor that believed you could catch AIDS off a toilet seat?

My parents were really friendly with another couple and we used to go on caravan holidays with them. They had two sons similar ages to me and my brother.
Three of us used to go out fucking about and getting into trouble while the other stayed back at the caravan writing Doctor Who stories (red flag).
He became a school teacher and about 10 yrs ago got banged up for distributing child porn.

we had a guy all lined up to do our kitchen last year. been here a few times and very thorough with plan and quote and we were just waiting on date he could start.
he then went cold. the guy (another bloke who has done good work for us) who recommended him got in touch and filled us in.
in March this year the kitchen fitter/builder has gone down for 12 years - pleaded guilty of 12 charges of sexual assault of children under the age of 13.

Not worked with any paedos but did work with a murderer and separately a woman who allowed her boyfriend to kill her child, can't remember her actual name. She managed to get employed using a false name, went off sick one morning and then we all saw in the evening standard that night that she was actually in court.

A colleague of mine retired from our force and got a job with the Ministry of Defence police at Aldermaston. He was part of a group of new officers to bolster the numbers after a whole shift were sacked for sleeping on night shift while supposedly looking after all the atomic stuff. A couple of months later another, not local, police force attended and arrested an on duty shift sergeant for rape of a minor and child pornography, a simultaneous warrant was being executed at his home address. Wrong uns, one and all.

And I have just remembered the bloke in his early 20's who worked with us who was sleeping with a girl and then started seeing her 15yr old sister on the side. Older sister found out, shopped him to the police, they found out incriminating evidence on his phone and charged him.
He continued to work with is while waiting for court case, as it loomed he told his manager but said he was innocent. He was promptly marched off premises and was found guilty of statutory rape and jailed for 4 years.
He recently had the front to ask for a reference.
