I won a long board (and helmet ) in a raffle at a charity music event in Bristol Saturday. No idea what make it is yet but there was some Santa Cruz clothing in the initial prize list so wondering if the board may be as well
I have got to try to get into Bristol during office hours to pick it up which is a pain.

Hmmm, not sure when I’ll be heading that way, but I’ll drop you a message if it looks like I’m going to (and if the stuff being at mine is any better, of course! You could at least collect outside if business hours)

Thanks very much for the offer, that would be great if you are in the area. I am hoping to WFH one day next week and I reckon I could just about make it down to them before they close for the day. Collecting from yours would be much easier and there would be a few beers in it!

Oh fingers crossed it's Santa Cruz or something similarly good, you could turn a profit I'm sure. Interested in what it might be. Keep me updated!

I used to ride big spin wheels (59/60mm possibly) which was considered ridiculously huge at the time but I just hated stacking it on tiny bits of gravel and then got used to the plush ride.

This is my issue returning to this after time off. 20 years of history only using 70mm-plus, very occasionally running something small like 65mm and thinking a piece of gravel will throw me at any moment. Here I am learning that sub-70mm is normal. Weird.
Ran the 70mm Retro ZigZags on the GenX earlier to Toolstation etc and actually wanted to go back to the little 55mm Suckas the board came with. Maybe less about size and more about Retro ZZ’s being slippery and rolling slow on damp tarmac.
Something 60-65 is probably sweet spot on these retro cruiser type pig decks.

Went to Route One today in Bath. Nearly bought a Heroin cruiser/pool deck but managed to hold back.
Did buy this obviously Cuphead patch though.

Do you need the wheels to slide? Or do you want to cruise a bit?
I would want low 80’s or high 70’s for cruising. 78a is great when the wheels are big. Recent use of high 80’s on bobbly footpaths reminded me how hard it is to push little wheels.

I’ll be cruising mainly, haven’t ruled out ollying the occasional curb, but won’t be doing anything tricksy.

I got a set of Mini Logo in 63mm/80a, but they’re still sealed for the minute.
Did an auction site haul and found a company selling brand new cruiser board completes, with 60mm/78a’s, for £15 delivered.
£15 for a set of wheels is worth the punt. The deck will end up in a charity shop and the trucks will go in the parts bin no doubt.
They seem okay for smaller size. Just need to give in and use a boxfresh set of Bones Reds instead of the basic Abec7’s that came with the Mindless.

Would you say bones reds make a noticeable difference?

It’s been years since I was crying for the best rolling speeds, but I remember anything beat bog standard cheap bearings. But part of that is simply because Bones are lubricated. If you found a lube that will get in and stay in, you may get by with cheap bearings.
I remember being scared how fast a set of Pig bearings were. But they weren’t cheap (cheaper than Swiss).

How about this for “worth it for a punt” level pricing…
Just a HU in case anyone wanted 58mm 80a’s…

Yup ‘97 onwards. I learned a bunch of tricks and then couldn’t do any on bigger wheels
