If the Barclay family wasn't enough for people already, Zahawi will make no difference.

This is where we are now:
'Common sense' minister Esther McVey announces ban on civil servants wearing rainbow lanyards

Always good to be reminded that Very are owned by bankrupt Tories.

The best bit being that no member of staff buys their own lanyard. They use whatever crap they're given by the company.

And I'm not prepared to see pointless job creation schemes...
Esther McVey there, who was dubbed the “common sense minister” when she was appointed in November.

Zahawi and Very should be a good match (from wiki):
In March 2024, The Very Group auditors, Deloitte, announced they had resigned after stating they struggled to access "appropriate and relevant information in respect of certain financing arrangements between companies in the wider group". Very Group's ownership is spread across many different companies, some unaudited, with an ultimate offshore owner.

Just the standard Barclay business model...

Emergency measures to counter prison overcrowding. They have finally completely broken the justice system.
Also headlines (way down the agenda for some reason) yesterday about the scale of money laundering in the UK & crown dependencies - I assume if measures were taken to clean up, it would tank the economy!
Party of law and order...

i like the new today program interviewer. politicians will be terrified of her
-
• #7996
She was great, didn't back down at all
-
• #7997
i heard her interviewing (i think) chris philp yesterday as well and she is very calm and polite but is very thorough and gets her questions answered.
it's a much better approach than the openly confrontational, trying to get a headline approach that John Humphreys had. i haven't listened to the show much recently so i don't really know the other interviewers any more. -

Emma Barnett is a great broadcaster.

Compare and contrast with Chris Boardman speaking much sense during his interview about the spurious death by fixie skidder legislation.
He was magnificent
