  • The Bolle Silium are my goto choice for sports (and everyday) sunglasses, ever since Decathlon stopped making similar ones a few years ago.

    They're cheap, and really lightweight.

  • Whichever Uvex safety specs are cheapest and have adjustable nose bridges at Screwfix/Toolstation/local hardware store

I used to 'borrow' them from labs. But that was a previous life.

  • ^ ^ ^ thanks I'll try to get some bolle or similar.

  • Anyone know where I can get some clear frame clear lens jawbreakers like these or recommend anything similarly transparent?

(Not diy safety glasses cos I’ve tried those twice and they have a very slight magnification and screw my eyes up).

    Thanks

  • I've got a pair of Oakley Radars maybe and the lenses are fucked, like some kind of film is lifting off the lens. It looks like a bad car window tint from the 80s.

Anyone know if Oakley have any kind of Toxic Sweat Lens Death warranty replacement kind of deal, or like a crash replacement policy where you can trade them in on a new pair?

  • When I broke mine, as in I got punched in the face - gosh, I miss the CS7 - I wrote a sob story to their customer service and I got a new frame cheap(er). Maybe better if that came from a shop that sells them though, surely someone on here can help you?

  • I got a pair of these https://www.sungod.co/en-gb/shop/sunglasses/classics3?sku=classics3-c3f_Inavy-c3le_8Pblue-c3i_Bblue (8KOp) last year and they are unscathed. This is a record for me. Would recommend for sure.

  • Interesting 🤔 mine are doing the very same. Never thought to try and warranty them. Just at the very edges.

#just checked only two years on sunglasses, so onto plums.

  • Yeah, my Prizm Road lens in Radar EVs done the same. Seems to be a common occurance

  • So, it does look like an Oakley thing, not an acidic face sweat thing.

  • I wonder if I could just peel this layer off.

  • I have some Eyeshade lenses like that. Let me know if you find a solution.

  • Eyeshades are apparently the only sunglasses still lifetime warrantied...

  • Unfortunately they're re-issues rather than the originals, so I'm not sure that would apply?

I've got some Aliexpress lenses in there, work ok.

  • Which cycling shades do people rate/wear on here?
I have been considering SunGods and also the Rapha ones, but Insta is now bombarding me with loooooads of other brands I have never heard of that look ok and cheap with mixed reviews...

  • I just use some battered old Oakley Frogskins with polarised lenses. Mostly because I drop them lots and can't trust myself with anything too fancy.

I don't think you need to buy cycling specific glasses, the lenses are more important.

  • Oakley Sutro S though the lens choice is limited in the S but i like the trail torch as the road lens is a bit dark for autumn/winter.
would probably look at some 100% or Briko

  • Melon Optics Alleycats? Nice Zeiss lens options.

  • My prescription sunglasses are a little like Frogskins already. I’m finding that the frames get in the way of my vision when looking over my shoulder, so looking for something larger.

  • These look interesting. Maybe a little more than I’m looking to pay for though.

  • Fair. They're not cheap!

I had some Aliexpress POC half blade copy frames with a few different kosher POC lenses for years and liked them a lot.

  • Briko look interesting…
