I think anyone would remember a wrench down the end of their todger.
The legislation all can out because of prurience though - making things illegal because people did not like them.
Sure, some corner cases where crimes did occurs were swept up, but for the most part, it just criminalised consensual (even if super pervy) activities.

In law, you cannot consent to something that will cause serious harm. Which is designed, in the most part I believe, to prevent the defense of "it was just rough sex". There was a case I think I remember where two lads filmed themselves putting spanners and all sorts up their urethras and they were both convicted.
