    The triple doesn't have a cut off though so isn't really road appropriate if you're looking for something to do both. Sure you can use it but it's not really ideal or probably legal.

  • I've been using it for the last 10 years. The brightness legality thing is bullshit - it's mostly about the light angle anyway and fucking 95% of cars are brighter than anything a dynamo can put out so fuck them.

  • I think it's the shape of the beam, not the brightness. Most of these ones have a crisp line cut off so they're max brightness up to the point of blinding. Rather than having to point it down so it's dim at the top of the beam or just blinding oncoming traffic. I'm sure most people with the triple are using it on road but it is specifically an off-road light.

  • For comparison, halogen carlights are about 55W, a SP-8 is 3W.
