I haz contract. Just popped over to talk to the buyer of the XV, I'll have to get a roadworthy certificate for that tomorrow then I can get the bunce and get this shit moving.
Was hoping to be driving it tomorrow but end of the week is more likely looking at my work schedule. The car is 100kms away so I'm gonna have to train wanker and Uber all the way there. Such nerve-wracking.

Admittedly I haven't tracked it for a while, and not since I serviced it. But it doesn't have start-stop, and I've got a couple of hills and some 40-50mph stretches on our standard daily nursery/school run and I want to say it's in the mid-30s.
Gentile motorway driving in 7th is obviously something ridiculously high.

I noticed that the mk7 BMT version turns off the middle two cylinders when in eco mode on a flat road, which is probably why the mk6 isn't quite as good in that sense

You need to fit a pair of arrowspeed tyres to the rear and enjoy the lack of grip.
Think the long wheelbase makes things easier to oversteer controllability.

Thinking has evolved somewhat, currently considering the E400d estate

By talkative, do you mean noisy?
-
• #78058
Yes, a bit creaky
-

It could be anti roll bar bushes, the Superb had a similar creak over speed bumps and online consensus was greasing the bushes solved that. I tried it and it got rid of the creaking.

ah - mine does this too!

• #78061
Good to know. Noise is in the back mainly, a little in the front.

• #78062
fuck yeah tho dude. hope the stars align

Is this possible as an on-the-car job?

Sold the XV today, got a roadworthy certificate and had it detailed, looks pretty good. Money hit my account half an hour ago.
So contract signed and deposit paid! Now it's just a case of figuring out when I'm gonna get down there to pick it up.
In other car related news. Some dickhead reversed into my ute, sad times. I've just had to go out and buy a MarketPlace replacement tail light, not street legal otherwise. Got all the perp's details, insurance company dealing with it now. Only six months old. 🫣

You do need to undo some bolts but not really take anything fully off.

What grease, red rubber?

Should I go buy a car in Taunton?

After writing down a list of the things I need. It annoyingly was cheaper for the spec than the alternatives.

I’m feeling that car (old diesel) is less fuel efficient since using ezy start on an engine that turned out to have a blocked/stopped fuel filter and dead spark plugs. it just feels/sounds less tight too. I know f-all but the fuel lines are clear now, filter good, spark plugs replaced and garage says pump is alright. Could it be that the forces involved in abusive use of easy start have damaged piston rings? If they are does that mean fuel will be ending up in the oil?

Off topicish, but woke up this morning and both mine and the neighbour's ring doorbells had duct tape put over them at 2.30 in the morning.
Amongst other things, I'm worried they were covering the camera so they could spend time relating/cloning the key signal (key was in the hallway). Car was still there though and seemingly untouched.
I've ordered a couple of Faraday bags, but not sure what's best to do if they did clone it but didn't drive off (though not sure why they'd do that).
Any suggestions what to do in the meantime? I can't see a way of setting it to key only opening (it's a '21 plate Octavia VRS)

Sorry about the ute....

Get a steering wheel lock urgently and always keep your keys far away from the outside of the house.

Cheers - good shout re: steering lock and have moved the keys
Amazing! A far cry from me nearly wetting myself after momentarily losing the back end for a split second on a greasy roundabout :/
