    The policies were broadly popular in polling weren't they? It was the leader and party that were unpopular

  • Yep, individually they were overwhelmingly popular. The argument against is usually that when taken in aggregate it was all too much, which I can see being a fair point if you're a fiscal hawk like most of the media.
