Focus ST
Never really warmed to the styling. Especially inside. Yes I am fussy

Suzuki Swift Sport?

Yes, unfortunately. The gen 1 infotech is terrible and yes, the HVAC is touchscreen which can be slow. The gen 2, post 2017 is vastly better

Has anyone suggested the Hyundai i30 N? There's a fastback with a bit more boot.

I do like these but I think they are too new to come in on the budget

I'm off to look at this STi tomorrow, first time buying a car from a used car lot. Seems to be a reputable enough business, they've been importing JDM nuggets for over 25 years. Anyway, enough guff, help me out. Tips please.

Half the price, tonnes of fun in a death defying hooligan manner, fits a bike no wheels and old enough no one will think about stealing

Maybe it's just me but an advert for a car that is on 70k miles and is for sale at £20k from a dealer should not need " Car starts and drives Absolutely perfect" - it would be my assumption that this would be a given...

Thanks - this does look interesting

Hmm, very possible that has been imported from a snowy part of Japan so look closely for any bubbles under the paint, look under car if bolts and suspension looks rusted out.
Other basics of oil condition, coolant etc. Does the car blow any smoke when backing off the throttle.
That looks like a fairly unmolested example so that's a good thing.
Look for any signs of over spray around door jambs, in wheel arches. And check tyres are good and not 10 years old.

That is a a “tuned by STI” not a true STI fyi - so don’t pay a big premium

Thanks! If it seems okay I'll spring for a mobile mechanic to go have a look at it.
@danb Really? It's a cheap as chips auto so it's only a cosplay STi anyway, and only A$14k. The STi badge is a bonus, this is the car I wanted when I bought my XV/Crosstrek. The manuals go for two or three times as much.

Cool, so long as it’s not priced like an STI and your not expecting it to have an STI engine etc then go for it - look’s great.
I still miss my old Legacy

Also standard forester xt from 2010-2014 are only around 8-14k anyway... So keep that in mind. How many Kay's does the silver car have?

I really would like an STI but they're £££ here.

• #77819
145,000kms so it's well run in! 😬
I'm not gonna make a deal tomorrow, it's just a reconnaissance mission. If I like the look of it I'll get a mechanic to look at it. But you're right, if I can get the same body shape for less cash with less kays that would be better.
But STi badge. 🤑🤣

I like the Up! GTi [my kind of size car] but couldn't see past an Abarth 595 - faster, more fun, cheaper.

STi

Not as old as that joke

😭😭
Interesting. Doesn't it have touch screen heater controls? Might be a deal breaker
