  • Apologies in advance as I imagine this has been discussed many times:

Which is the best (least futile) lock with a bit of length for locking a cargo bike around lampposts etc?

  • I’ve got a hiplok gold - not sure if it’s any good but it’s gold rated so eligible for my laka insurance… if the bike gets nicked, I’m relaxed because I’m covered

  • Good breakdown of a well thought out locking setup for a Bullitt. The newer gen of angle grinder resistant locks are the way to go

Edited: someone’s always already written something better

  • I found I was nervous with any lock, so pay for Laka insurance and a Gold rated lock, which is quite a freeing experience. No longer live in London though.

Worth noting a couple of years of Laka might cost the same as an angle grinder resistant lock anyway.

  • Yeah true, there are some other benefits of being insured too!

  • having my gsd stolen i have learned this lesson .. proper lock like hiplok d1000 or litelok x3 as primary lock IMO

  • @cmyj @t-v how do i remedy this sag in the canopy?

  • wait whats that

  • That's what the inside of the canopy looks like on a load 75. Maybe different on the 60?

I looked it up. Different design.

  • I didn’t realise at first but there is actually a sewn in tube to thread the rods through the whole length. Fixed it for me.

  • thats what i do when the sides are closed but in this open format always sags .. and in headwind the buckles also come off due to canopy being pushed down with wind .. bit weird

  • do you mean this?

  • On laka and locks. I saw somewhere that they now require 2 gold locks for cargo bikes ?

  • … mine is an orbea katu-e so not strictly a cargo bike I’d argue - but I’m going to double check with laka

  • Thanks yeah I have Laka cover already so I guess I’m halfway there :)

  • Interesting- I’m with Laka and I don’t see anything about that on my policy schedule, but maybe there’s another terms and conditions?

  • was in the family cycling Facebook group

  • My omnium is under 25kg I think 🤔

  • I definitely didn’t receive an email about that and am insuring two cargo bikes. They should require an acknowledgement.

  • And by primary you mean as in the above linked video? Going through wheel and frame rather than locking to something solid?

  • Never too early to get them started.

  • I use 2 gold locks (of 2 different styles). A gold U and a chain + wheel lock. 2 different styles of lock is the key as they require 2 different tools/techniques to remove.

  • Anyone has an urban arrow? I know they are huge beasts but worth it?
