  • When I went to the tunnel I had @scherrit along and when I was with Xav it was a paired session so you have time to do stuff while another rider tests and it was mostly little bits and pieces.

My TT bike is in storage at the moment because I've not yet committed to racing it again this year but if I do it will be later in the year and I wouldn't have a lot of time for testing even if I could get a session. I'll probably end up bolting on a "visibly faster" front end and hoping that it is actually faster then worrying about testing later.

  • PS I feel your pain, I didn't find much when I went, it was more a case of working out what didn't work. I'm riding UCI pos this year (even for CTT events) so there was some limitation to what I could do position-wise, but now all I need to do is find some more watts....

Alex was great though, super professional, really thorough and I would fully recommend going through him. Can put you in touch if interested.

  • Yeah, I didn't know about his testing. Where does he actually test? Sorry if you answered this, I've got 0 spare brain capacity at the moment :S

  • He uses the Hub at Silverstone

  • This looks like the end of the Farnham - Alton TT course

It will affect my warm up for 10s🙂

  • That might've been where I went, when Simon Smart was using the Mercedes tunnel out there?

Who am I kidding, if I stopped drinking for 6 months I'd save the tunnel money (probably more - damn you craft beer!) and be as quick.

  • I wouldn't dream on this forum of making amy speculation as to your body shape but given the gains involved in hydration down the front of the skinsuit, a drastic reduction in beer consumption may make you less aero

  • I'm well aware. There's a limit though. Too much beer gut and you can't get your torso low enough.

  • There was talk of a new 10 course, starting at the Hen & Chickens, going straight over the ten turn down to the following roundabout and retracing to finish half way up the climb after the H&C. Someone needs to get this course measured and proposed for the 2025 season. The 10 won’t be affected by the roundabout. 25 mile event will have to use H25/88 instead. I can’t see a problem.

  • Yeah but what about the proper events like the 50, 100 and 12hr?

  • I have done a 50 on the H88, ie the slow end.

  • I'm not likely to race there again (no car, not so much interest in TTing) but it was a good stretch of road along there for me. I mean, it must've been if I was riding out there just to ride up and down it... :D

  • Sure, it is sad to see it go. I probably did half of my TTs on that course.

Not sure this would work with 11s bits, but even if it did, where's the cable to the RD supposed to go with it? I'd still have to run that outside the bars and down through one of the Shiv's access ports

  • Just put this in wanted, looking to make my tri bike 2x and 2x sets of shifters for a couple of hilly long races.

Long shot but if anyone had some or all the bits for a tt specific groupset- shimano or sram- I’d be interested.

    Needs to be rim brake.
I’d be interested in mechs on their own that I can then buy new shifters for, or shifters minus the mechs.
    Thanks

  • National Road Bike TT today. Lovely 🥶

  • Interclub 25

You may remember I suggested forum members could ride this event (as 'private time trials') and the result could be treated as The lfgss 25 Championship.

Well, there was a bit of a wobble with the promotion and it was necessary to make a special late application for the event - this has been done and the event is on, but I don't think it will be in any handbook.

This event started in 1925, so next year's will be the centenary. I think it's a newsworthy story that this rather humble little TT (it's essentially a club event) has lasted so long, and I believe it's something worthy of celebration, so I was keen that this year's event would happen and, of course, that next year's landmark happens also.

The clubs currently involved are: Hounslow, Twickenham and Westerley (theoretically there is also the Weybridge, but I don't think they are still functioning). The clubs have varied over the years but the Twickenham has always been on the list.

This year forum riders should just enter as PTT's, but I'm sure in the future the lfgss cc would be welcome as a member club if it has any riders wanting to compete, and this would be an easy first step in race promotion for the club (member clubs promote the event on an annual rotating basis).

So, if there are any contenders for the forum 25 championship, I'll provide a (second hand) trophy if there is more than one of you.

In theory it should be possible to enter as a private on the start line, but really if you want to ride it would be best to enter in advance. You could go straight to the Twickenham CC to do this, or if you prefer, send me a PM and I will forward your details.

So, Sunday 19th May, 8am, West of Windsor course HCC001.

  • Yeah saw you and the crew put some good times up on a truly rank day.
    Well done mate!

  • Any other year, I’d be well up for this.
This year, I’ve not touched a bike more than commuting and 3 club rides.
    Which is depressing.
It’s been a year to forget- riding wise.

  • I see the winner is under investigation. Which I'm not surprised by looking at his set-up.

  • That’s. That’s.

Well that’s a time trial bike.

I like the light on the end of the bottle, really says “this is just a fairing”

  • Which specific thing is supposed to be in breach of the rules?

The road bike category has a consistent and simple set of rules nationwide:

The road bike can possess drop or straight handlebars
No tri-bars, clip-on bars or Spinacci bars are allowed
    No disc wheels
Both front & rear wheels must have at least 12 spokes each
The maximum rim depth allowed is 90mm

    1. Road Bike Criteria (Moved from Regulation 14, 14l - Section: Competitors)

    (a) The road bike can possess drop or straight handlebars; no tri-bars, clip-on bars or Spinaci bars are allowed; no disc wheels; both front & rear wheels must have at least 12 spokes each; the maximum rim depth allowed is 90mm.

    (b) Helmets used in Road Bike category events must not cover the ears or have a tear drop/pointy style "tail", any helmet vents must not be covered or blocked. The helmet must not have been altered or had any element added or removed in terms of design or form but may be used as the manufacturer intended (e.g., sliding vents). It is prohibited to add a detachable cover to a helmet. The composition of the helmet material and its surface condition are not subject to any regulations. However, additions to the helmet are not allowed (cover, tape etc.).

N.B. For competitors riding Road Bikes, competitors must predominantly ride holding the drops or brake hoods. Riders may not ride in the "Puppy Paws" Position or simulate a Tri-Bar position by resting the forearms on the handlebars

  • simulate a Tri-Bar position by resting the forearms on the handlebars

Looks at this, looks at the photo.

  • He's holding the hoods though. I took that rule to mean you can't have your arms on the tops and hands on the floating in space in the middle of the bars (aka puppy paws).

When I'm riding on the hoods of my road bike with a 90 deg arm bend my wrists are touching the bars and I have very short bars. He's got longer bars. Where else are his arms supposed to go when holding the brake hoods?
