  • Anyone ever used Fettle for bike servicing? Or worked there?

Last year I took my urban arrow in for an emergency battery lock change as I lost the key. While I was there I asked for a breakdown of prices on a full service. I had recently injured my spine, been unpaid by my employer, and fined by HMRC, so was very clear I needed prices before committing to any work beyond the absolutely necessary to stay on the road.

All my emails, calls and texts bounced back because they don't support replies. I was charged for work I couldn't afford, and spent the day on the phone getting it sorted. Bike was delivered by a driver who couldn't find me, couldn't speak English, couldn't use Google maps and who called me repeatedly while I was working on site from a phone that didn't support replies, so I couldn't send them my location. I eventually ran down the road to flag them down, and found the workshop had forgotten to put my battery back in.

The guy who rode down later with the battery was apologetic, and seemed like a decent bloke, and the driver was trying their best and was as stressed as me. The problem is the utterly useless communication. A year later I'm still getting spam from them.

Happily, the Cyclery Lewisham say they are training to service Bosch motors, will be great to have a local option.
