It's time for us to go extinct.
Rewording: there’s so many of us in so many places living in so many ways, I’d wager humans will survive the collapse of our civilisation. They’ll still have to survive a crazy, less predictable, more primitive world though.
Also superbugs: lack of trained medical care and pharmaceuticals will be a major challenge.
The anti-vaxxer RFK Jr may hand the presidency to Trump, says Edward Luce in the FT https://archive.ph/a5UQr#selection-1609.0-1609.15
"Polls give RFK Jr between 2 and 15 per cent of the vote in a three-way race. Even the lower number could alter a close election."
Kennedy "recovered from heroin addiction and a two-year probation to become a crusading environmental lawyer. He is no stranger to scandal. In 2013, the New York Post got hold of his private diary in which he chronicled infidelities with women — 37 affairs in 2001 alone. His second wife, Mary Richardson Kennedy, who suffered from depression, died by suicide in 2012. Kennedy is often criticised by siblings and other family members for his anti-vaccine campaigns. The theory he promotes — that vaccines cause autism — has been medically debunked. But he appeals to swaths of America that are hostile to the pharmaceutical industry. Most Americans have a close family member who suffers from a chronic disease, such as diabetes, cancer, hypertension or addiction. Millions feel ripped off by the big drugs companies."
So anti-vaxxer numbskulls will wreck the world by putting Trump in the White House. Brilliant. We might as well write off our species. It's time for us to go extinct.
