Love watching the people in the shop. Some strong hat game going on.

I pretty much don't listen to too much straight-up modern acoustic jazz, as it's often a pale imitation of what went before. However, blown away by the new Vijay Iyer Trio album, Compassion, especially the cover of Stevie Wonder's Overjoyed. Top tier piano trio jazz, immediately purchased their previous album, Uneasy, after listening.

Does everyone know about this already? I've only just discovered it via Rahill on NTS.

Bill Laurance (Snarky Puppy founder member and 5x Grammy winner) is doing a solo piano gig on Friday May 17th, 8pm in Dulwich. It's not being that heavily promoted as it's in large part a local school fundraiser, but a chance to see a pretty awesome (in my view) performer in a close setting. May be of interest!

Alas, my snarky-adjacent friend could only get a comp for himself. I was there on the offchance I could be snuck in, but it was pretty strict. Guess it’s only fair given the capacity they fill the place with paying guests rather than freeloaders.

There's some good stuff at this years London Jazz Fest. Want to go that, the Arve Henriksen/Haremen Frannje gig, and also the Mario Biondi gig as that's all romanticals for my wife and I.
