If 'yes', debris bridging the cavity could have allowed very slight leaks through the external mortar to reach this wall.
Any evidence under the bath of a previous slight leak, (discolouration of floor boards)?

How old is the property? Back in the day wallpaper paste was any source of cellulose/starch and out of date flour was used.
