  • My friend may be interested I'll check

  • I have an Akko Air keyboard which has great key feel but shit Bluetooth, and a Lofree keyboard which has a key feel that I don’t really like as much, but doesn’t have the Bluetooth issues of the Akko.

Can I swap into the Lofree the (?) switches that are in the Akko?

  • I will take this posted if not already taken. Let me know via PM and I can send the money and my address. thanks.

  • Should I get this or stick with the v2?

The reviews basically say the v3 isn't worth it but moneygun.gif

Then again, the tenkeyless v2 is on sale for £90

  • You snooze, you lose. That £90 tenkeyless Filco is now £120 which makes the v3 more attractive option.

  • I've got 3 Majestouch keyboards:

    • One wired for main work setup
    • One wireless for personal laptop
    • One wireless for co-working space (leave it there in a locker as they're heavy to lug around)

The last one I found on eBay for £50.

There's a TKL Ninja with Cherry MX brown switches on eBay that's currently £35 with no bids: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266643038207
And a wireless version (Convertible) again with Cherry MX brown that's £45 with no bids: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134914858625

  • ive reignited my interest in MK this week after checking out for two years after getting (effectively) scammed by RAMA for a few hundred quid, accepted im never getting that back but ordered a hibi hibiki, looking forward to putting that together next week

  • Got myself a Filco tenkeyless version and really struggling now my hands are in different places and there's. Didn't realise how much I was using the keypad's Enter, for example.

  • I've only tried and owned a handful of mechanical keyboards, but this is by far my favourite.

  • I have a full size one and that's why I bought the smaller version for my laptop. It feels good, just weird hand position now because I'm not really a touch typist more of a floating in known space typist.

  • Lol what a description. Many years ago I saw some fellow devs using a blank DasKeyboard which I thought was cool. Around the same time, there was a joke about how few of us could touch type (company was then called TouchType Ltd lol). So I picked up the Filco TKL Ninja where the labels are on the front of the key caps and not the faces. It got me touch typing as properly as I could be bothered too (95-99%?).

The real PITA isn't getting a new keyboard now*, it's switching between Mac and US layouts back to UK ones.

*Lies. I bought a Redragon Azure during Summer on the cheap from Amazon. Wanted something mechanical yet slim and portable enough to travel for hot-desking purposes. I'm still clumsy with it due to the spacing.

  • just a reminder to grease your stabilisers. My spacebutton was annoying as hell and not picking up 50% of presses unless really close to center. Took it off, removed the stabilisers, greased up, back to together and sounding and working way better than before

  • Needs a youtube video and details of preferred grease.

  • Should be enough to service a couple of keyboards.

  • My arrived dented.

It's so fucking annoying. Takes me a solid minute to open it and at least two to get the lid back on.

  • Silicone grease? I still have a tube of that I bought from Maplins >100 years ago for sealing Powertap hubs.

  • I use dielectric grease (in a squeezy tube)

I did all that and also band aid modded my PCB back when I put my board together. Lot of work but worth it (IMO)

  • Moved office, swapped keyboards in for one I hadnt used for a good while

RAMA Kara, GMK Thinkcaps, tangerine switches (very office friendly)

  • Funny intro.

Pretty sure 99% of mechanical keyboard users are after the obnoxiously noisey first keyboard.

  • not for me thanks - i love that thocky noise, not so much with the click clack

  • Haha... I can't even be bothered watching the video, let alone doing the work! Hard pass.

Top Tip: If you play your music loud enough, it doesn't matter what your keyboard sounds like. Same rule I use for bikes...

  • i spend a lot of my day typing while on calls so music not an option for me tbh

  • Pretty sure 99% of mechanical keyboard users are after the obnoxiously noisey first keyboard.

    I am the 1%.

(I wanted as silent as possible.)

  • I too am the 1%.

Nothing louder than brown in this house.

(not strictly true as my return is blue as a test that I haven't yet switched back)

  • Very large 1%, also including me.
