Cross posting from the New York thread as I suspect it doesn't get much traffic..

I'm off to Vermont for a week in July followed by a week in NYC, staying in Brooklyn. Has anyone got a recent list of New York food places (I'm vegan, my wife isn't, so all options welcome). Not fancy pants $$$ places, bonus points for mom and pop style spots.

A couple that I remember that haven't shut down
https://nishidasho-ten.com/ and https://www.tottoramen.com/midtown-east - for ramen if you want decent, cheap food.

If you weren't aware, menu prices are pre-tax (about 10%) and tips (15%-20%).

I knew about 20% tips, I haven't been to NYC before so wasn't sure what the sales tax was so that's helpful,ta.
