  • I dont remember where I found this pic... is this a forum build?

  • New (to me) wheels, new (to me) saddle, new bag, lots of new bearings etc and my Pass Hunter is running smooth again.

Bar tape next then eventually new tyres & tubeless set up to complete the glow up

  • lovely

  • Bars are on one OG with ergon grips. Other changes are tiagra levers, alfine shifter, dmr pedals, charge spoon saddle, tortec rack. All basic, budget stuff.

  • Are there different shaped Flites? Mine doesn't have the dip in the middle. Or is yours just more worn in than mine? Great looking bike by the way!

  • Are there different shaped Flites?

The original 1990s Flite was very different from what Selle Italia later sold under that name.

  • I think mine might be a later model. And now I've looked more carefully, there does appear to be a slight dip depending on the viewing angle. Maybe it's just the perspective that makes it seem so pronounced.

  • This is fantastic.

  • I think it's probably mostly perspective. This one is actually not very worn in at all

It is a different shaped Flite because it's an Alpes, but from what I can tell all that means is the rear corners are cut off at an angle. For me the arsefeel is identical to the several ordinary Flites I've had over the years. But yeah as tester says all original models

  • Having had both, the only difference I could spot was the rails shape. The newer version makes room for bigger seat post clamps. Whereas with the original, the rails follow the shape of the saddle nicely, hiding it almost completely when looking from the side.

    Credit to @flatik.

Those are both early variants. The later ones are very flat.

  • It was meant to be a shit box that I didn't mind locking up around town but it ended up with some inappropriately nice bits (stupid converted DA cranks, ti post, hand made M_V stem) and I like it so much that I'd hate for it to get nicked. Needless to say, I'm working on a new, shitter bike to fill that role

We all know that this doesn't happen, and we just repeat the first bit of the cycle...

  • Thanks for the credits, the rails are higher on the newer version. It's what makes them less appealing in my opinion.

  • the rails are higher on the newer version. It's what makes them less appealing

It's also what stops the seat base from bottoming out on the seat post rail clamp when you sit on it, so swings and roundabouts

  • So far, the plan for the newer shit box will cost me £20 (a set of tyres). Most of the parts, including the frame, are going to be pinched from the scrap pile at work. Stem, forks, bars and saddle will come from the parts bin. I'm going to try really hard not to get carried away and make it too swish!

  • Not mine, but mention of form for this build:

  • This forum looks familiar

  • This brings back memories of cycling with that pointy bit sticking in the middle of my feet because the pedals were so narrow

  • Just picked up this old French Tourer from Facebook. 26" wheels and Simplex gearing. Fully working dynamo too.

I'll change the seat and wrap the bars. Rides great. And I think it looks wonderful.

Can anyone tell me about Leleu bikes? I gather it's named after a professional cyclist, and was perhaps Decathlon's first run of bicycles, but I can't find anything else online.

  • I couldn't bear quill road pedals. Superbe Pro track pedals only for me.

  • Pretty exited with the latest purchase.

Rides great as it stands but will probably add mudguards and different tires later on.

  • I went for bluemels on my utility bike, in part to keep the cost down, but they are occasionally rattling and contacting the tyres on big bumps. Am going to try to solve with some more patient fettling (not my strong suit), but if that doesn't work, a more rigid set of metal mudguards seems like the obvious answer.

But are there any metal mudguards that will fit a 27.5 x 2.25 tyre apart from the (£190) SimWorks x Honjo 74mm? Not sure I can bring myself to spend that much
