The Gentleman on Netflix.
Guy Ritchie, so, you know, gangster blokey predictability, but watchable enough nonetheless.

saw a couple of episodes of modern family at my parents this morning , after having watched it all a few years back.
might give it a re watch, really good, funny entertainment, great characters -

Yeah. I really liked it for casual viewing. Some of the stereotypes feel a bit iffy now, but overall enjoyable.

Blackbird, took an episode or two to fully engage but thought it was a pretty solid prison drama/serial killer story. Good performances from Taron Edgerton and Paul Walter Hauser but Ray Liotta was the best i've seen him in a while in one of his final performances.

modern family
Weird - all the snippets/adverts I've seen of this make it appear to be complete dogshit?

I thought the earlier series were quite good. Then like all (most) TV things past 2 or 3 series turns lazy, predictable and a bit shit.

Modern family is the the one good, big American sitcoms of it's brief few year time period that occasionally puts it's head above the corporate parapet, only to find the skin on it's head used as the next parapet, used to catch the next in the loop. It's perfectly passable as comedy, has a few decent moments but drags itself into dated, overly familiar, crowd sourced comedy that drags itself through a few more bad seasons than it ever had good, but was never awful from the outset. The next one harvests any good ideas then repeats with some lols until it's sandy ready to be peeled.

Isn’t modern family a gateway drug to joining the Proud Boys?
Anyway back to bitching about Masters of the Air…the kids that are given free rein of the US military base don’t age. Are they supposed to be ghosts? I’m saying they are ghosts

I’ve really enjoyed Griselda on Netflix, it’s like a more fun Narcos, it wanes a bit the last two episodes but it’s still good as la jefa goes Tony Montana. Deals with the rampant sexism of the time very nicely and has a superb soundtrack including Ryan Paris!

We liked this - Sofia Vergara was very good. Reading up on the backstory is pretty interesting too (newsflash - Griselda looked nothing like Sofia Vergara).

Two episodes in and I'm wondering what I am missing as I think it is not very anything.

Last man standing, Tim 'the toolman' Taylor with girls instead of boy children.
Feels the same, but not as good. There is 9 seasons of this.

I agree, we tried and gave up with it

Started watching Death and Other Details on Disney (Star). The first 2 episodes are pretty good. Blatant Agatha Christie rip-up but pretty entertaining.

I think for me it's mainly about the New York setting, makes me super nostalgic for all that weirdness. It's very light and easy to sit through when you just need to chill out.

Finished Death and Other Details at the weekend. Really enjoyed it. Imo it was 2/3 episodes too long. Felt like a lot of back and forth to pad things out.
I’ve been meaning to watch the Alienist since I got Netflix 2/3 years ago. Fantastic program.

The fall of Chung has absolutely destroyed the mood at the Gladiators watch party me and my mates are having at the Shirkers Rest.

Shogun on Disney is proving to be pretty entertaining with its store-brand Tom Hardy. It’s better than expected, strong performances, funny in places script genuine shocks. It’s got that early GOT vibe
Under the Banner of Heaven has held my attention as well. It’s tense and confusing. I actually feel sorry for Mormons as a result

Was planning on binging Mr and Mrs Smith this weekend but 2 episodes in and i think i'm done. Maybe it gets better but not finding either of them likeable or watchable.
On the flip side whilst trying to milk every last penny out of my £1 Amazon trial i did find the early 90s animated Batman series i used to watch on Saturday morning TV and it's still excellent.
I'm very excited about this.
