  • The thing that changed the most for us was our expectation of future trips, but then we had our daughter and all went out of the window anyway.

After one “once in a lifetime” trip you realise how many more you want to do - and also how it’s possible to do them.

  • So much this. Also, sorry for musing about ends, even they are temporary.
You're out there, the time is now! :)

  • What was your route/trip? I’m assuming some or most of South America from other posts but just realised I’ve never asked specifics.

  • Cheers. Good to hear you've still got plenty of time.

Would love to emulate your trip but I think, for us, the practical alternative is lots of smaller trips.

What do you mean "no book"?! Damnit we want a book and we want it now!

    (jokes, obvs) ;)

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I want to do this ride, thank you for sharing.

  • there's the coming back to "reality".

Very excited to buy @moog a Guinness

  • Unrelated, I recently reminded myself of my Kilkenny appreciation. Where can I get that instead of Guinness?

  • Any excuse to go to Ireland - but I love cycling in the rain.

  • I haven't been to Ireland for years. I did look into some races there but it's just a little bit awkward to get there, especially when I've got a lot of Scotland to see which is logistically easier.

  • Both beautiful but you probably won't get a tan - was in the Outer Hebrides on my bike once and did get one though (unusually hot May). Great folks in both countries.

  • Any and all pints will be gratefully received

  • Enjoy the end of your journey. Endless pints and good food are yours for the asking. You know where we live. It would be great to see you both.

  • Nothing as epic as yours, we were traveling for a 1.5y in a mix of modes, but only 3 months on bikes and in Europe. We spent 6 months in South America, mostly in Patagonia as a mix of through hiking and road tripping with a van, then skipped north to the Atacama, Bolivia and then Peru. Met a lot of people on the road and gather intel for future trips.

After one “once in a lifetime” trip you realise how many more you want to do - and also how it’s possible to do them.

I do agree with this and I have a few plans in mind don't get me wrong :)

  • Fin del mundo, it’s been a trip.
