This. Was totally obsessed with lynch dune. Sound visuals and plot (though having read dune helped with this)

In the context of other Sci fi of the era the total lynchian quirk, extreme Sado Baron Harkonan, Stings Feyd, the worm effects, the Spice warping of the universe as a traval mode, the blue eyed fremen, the desert suits and Siches. So original, nothing like it.

Sat through a five hour unabridged screening on a Tottenham court road club cinema was even enjoyable if painful physically (no seats, just cushions on the floor).

The timing, context, film ecosystem made it for me, and my film friends an annual (at least) event.

Considering how film has evolved since then, I get the current critique of lynch's film but still I enjoyed watching it ahead of Dune 1.

Loved vilneuve's films too, especially pt2.

There's a place for all the Dunes imo, as the books were groundbreaking at the time and the latter books about the ultimate corruption of power chime today.

No heroes remain heroes nor messiahs

Probably just us old farts that used to go and see Eraserhead at the Scala all-nighters that feel that way, David. 👴🪦

Psychedelic all-nighters! Head, Easy Rider, can't remember what else they were showing on those nights. Me and my mates would've all dropped acid so would've been well gone before the first film came on anyway. 😵‍💫

I went to a house party immediately after watching Zone of Interest. Man, I was not a fun person that night. So harrowing.

I saw Dune 2 in 70mm at the Odeon Leicester Square and think it is a solid 8 out of 10.

Some of the desert scenes dragged, suddenly there were some Atreides soldiers still alive (but not for long), the Harkonnen were easily defeated by guerilla tactics, and the Emperor lined up his best troops to present a tempting target for the Khaleesi and her dragons. Or was it Muad'Dib and his sand worms?

Anyway, I liked the film, the sound was good, and the picture quality was excellent. The biggest disappointment was the size of the screen, quite small for one of the premier cinemas in the country. So I will probably go and see the film again at an Imax.

Austin Butler (Elvis) was my real favourite. I saw it in Imax and I want to go and watch it again. The cinematography was what really made it for me.

Spicy hot take. Enemy rules and is a legit interesting film. Arrival sucks and is Crash-level Oscar bait.

Not a comment on the film as that has had lots of attention, but I saw Dune 2 at the newish Dolby Cinema screen at the Battersea Power Station.

Can't recommend the venue highly enough. Big screen, the best sound I've ever experienced, super comfy seats and tickets a reasonable thirteen quid. It was also quite empty but it was a daytime midweek showing.

So, I've tried watching Dune 1 about 3 or 4 times now and I've fallen asleep each time.

I'm a fan of sci-fi in general, but it just seems incredibly dull.

Just watched this and thought it was fantastic.

I watched Onibaba last night after having it on my watch list for years. One of the best looking films I've ever seen! So many dreamy black and white shots of Japanese swamp stuff.

Yup, for me it was a struggle to get through it and I could easily have dozed off a few times. I don't get the love for it at all

Laughed our socks off. Definitely want to watch it again

I didn't quite finish watching Le Havre last night (I fell asleep because ill) but I really enjoyed it. A lovely human perspective on immigration, beautifully shot (tightly framed but with depth, it has almost a stage like quality) it blends dry humour and warm heartedness. Recommend 4/5
