Yep the TT shifters are the only reason the adapter exists. They won't be updating compatibility for 11 speed road kit

Once again I mention that I vividly remember reading a blog post from a guy who actually managed to reverse engineer the canbus signals of 11sp di2, and started making his own PCB-s to control the derailleurs. He wanted to sell them.
I reckon that last bit is why its been scrubbed clean from the internet, and for the life of me I cannot find it anywhere.

I’m going to have to play with one of these junctions I bought aren’t I…

I'm setting up my first bike with Di2 (Have Sram Etap on other) and come into a bit of a challenge, bike was setup as 1x but I'm converting it to 2x, bought a new junction box to go into seat tube, when the FD isn't connected the shifting at the back works and the battery charges but when I put in the connector for the FD it stops charging and working. I've tried both the current and a new cable for the FD.
Any pointers at to what I can do to troubleshoot?

Have you checked the firmware on the front derailleur? Usually if something isn’t working you need to update the firmware to a later version that is compatible with the firmware in the other components.

What junction was in there previously? Not a 4 port B junction?

Whereabouts are you? I’ve a PC with the E-TUBE software on it if required.

Bad cable causing a short
"I've tried both the current and a new cable for the FD."
which would be very unlucky if both cables were bad but seems to imply it's the FD. I'd plug it all in and update it at this point and try again. I'd also try it with a different junction box - if you're saying one port on it is bad, how do you know the whole thing isn't flakey?
@M4xime it's not using an XTR RD or something is it? IIRC you can only run XTR Di2 with 1x. What type of RD and FD is it?

:)
Hope they can sort it. But really, I wish Shimano would stop doing dumb shit like purposefully introducing unneeded incompatibilities like this.

History tells us that's a forlorn hope.

It's thankfully of minimal concern to me for the most part. I'd be more annoyed if they introduced lower spec MTB Di2 stuff that I couldn't use with Ultegra or GRX because "no reason". As it stands I've just not bothered and now I'm testing SRAM AXS on my MTB anyway so they're gonna lose a loyal customer, at least with MTB kit, because they're too damn slow with trickle down shit for MTBs.

Can someone explain how fucked I'd be if using a sugino ox601 crank, an ultegra di2 FD, grx di2 RD and MTB cassette on an old dtswiss 350 hub?
Will chains fall off and di2 explode or will I be fine.

I'm kinda surprised there isn't the overlap in the Venn diagram between bike hardware geeks and electronic engineer types that would have seen this slam dunked by five years ago.
-

Ultegra and GRX are both "road", so the Di2 part will work fine.

That sounds similar to what I've run. Dunno what that Sugino crank is but I've mixed Ultegra FD with GRX RD and 11-40 and 11-42T cassettes on DTSwiss 350 and 240 hubs. You need a spacer behind the cassette if it's a 11s road freehub body.
No 11 speed components have gotten a 12 speed compatibility update (or are likely to get one) except the TT-specific shifters.
