Headbadge looking good! Final weight is 12.7kgs, and the hose routing ended up being quite conventional. The Ridgeway is pretty dicey and waterlogged at the moment, so a ride to the gym is probably on the cards for tomorrow.

Not sure I understand a downtube shifter on a flat bar bike but you do you!

Cheers! I’m unlikely to use the inner (26t) ring often, so this seemed like an elegant solution that also puts the downtube boss to good use. I’ll be riding at a snail’s pace when I do need that ring, so reaching down shouldn’t be a problem (in theory!). I’m using a bar-mounted thumbie for the RD for practical reasons.

Thanks all! Chuffed with my <5km ride to the gym this morning. Chopping the Motos to 76cms was deffo a good move. The frame pump in lieu of the strap is infinitely more useful, and 8sp friction is the future :)

The strap was kinda cute but this is practicool. Happily it fits both the Clandestine and Bassi, which is great as I can’t get hold of this size of HPX anywhere now! I’m guessing disc brake pads need a couple of rides to bed in? They’re nothing to write home about at the moment..

Are all ‘*IS rear to PM (160mm)*’ adaptors the same? Or do they vary a little between brands?

I was using TRP adaptors (the ones that came with the Spykes) on the Hog with Shimano M6100 hydro calipers and the pads weren’t making adequate contact with either rotor.

Yesterday, Paul at Cyclo Fabrica found another (front) adaptor in his shop which resolved the issue on the front and now the contact on that rotor is much better.

The issue with the rear remains (I had to head off to do the school run before we could explore additional adaptors from different brands) so I wonder if anyone has a solid answer?

To confirm, the rear adaptor is the correct one for a 160mm rotor. But the pad isn't contacting the rotor enough and is likely to mean weird pad wear and below par braking..

Yes, there are differences. Sometimes I filed stuff, sometimes added washers but one that fits perfectly probably the best solution.

Gotcha, gonna try some Shimano adaptors in the hope they’ll play nicely with Shimano calipers. Failing that, Shimano rotors!

Why?

Because why wouldn't you use a thumbie or a trigger? On a drop bar, having the shifters on the bars either dictates the levers for you or you have bar-ends and jab yourself in the knee all the time. But on a flat bar you have better options. Especially when there's another thumbie already. Each to their own though

Brilliant build. I was sad to see the Riv go but this is a very worthy replacement. Looks like a real "fun-haver".

I quite like it, looks improvised (even if it might not be) and something a little different - although obviously having them to hand is quite nice too
