  • I do wonder what the wilting violets expected labour to do? Just sit there and take it.

If there is any plus point (for the PLP) they did something proactive.

  • There are two things aren't there? 1. The amendment. 2. The politics.

On pt1. They're all cunts. The SNP obviously being the most cunty, closely followed by the happless Tories.

On pt2. IMHO this looks like a massive green tick for Starmer and Labour. Can you imagine what an utter shambles of a shit show a similar event would have been under Corbyn?

Labour are continuing to look like a party focused on forming a government and taking control of the country.

  • To have put their own motion together and debated it on one of their own opposition days, or to have worked with others to create cross-party consensus on serious foreign policy issues.

Be proactive basically, rather than a last minute scramble as this so obviously was.

  • There is no prospect of working with the SNP for this Labour Leadership.
Few Tory MPs are serious. Most are out jobhunting.
Apart from Leyla Moran, I thought all the other LibDems are forming a (silent) human shield for Ed Davie over his Horizon indifference.

  • There is no prospect of working with the SNP for this Labour Leadership.

That's a mostly self-imposed limitation. And besides, that still leaves Labour with the possibility of having already created their own motion — let's pretend it was exactly the same wording: the SNP would vote for it, alongside some lib dems and tories too.

  • That really isn't true. Inevitably there will be a SNat/Lab coalition at Holyrood in 2026. The current shite is powered by SNat grifter fear of a wipeout at the GE. Where else will these useless cunts get paid like this? Slippers and Bunter are currently attempting a greasy slide into the Lords/the speakers chair.

Just to add to the festivity the party SNats face bankruptcy without the Westminster short money. Hopefully we'll have criminal trials galore this year to keep us all distracted from our fried mars bars.

Edit to add.. remember that the Punjabi progressives went to the same fee paying school. Not such an odd couple.

  • But they had already expressed a need for a ceasefire, this one didn't actually do anything.

This entire SNP opposition day was to try and screw labour, same with the second motion that the SNP withdrew..

  • Had they put something to the commons that made parliament agree to pursue an immediate ceasefire?

As far I understand, they’ve expressed it separately in the press, much too late and with much silliness over exact wording, but that’s just the opposition’s view, not the view of parliament.

I’m not totally up on how seriously opposition day motions are taken by the government to be completely honest. This one seems to be non-binding, as far as I can tell, but that could still be a significant step forward.

  • Revealed: Keir Starmer’s plan to revolutionise the way Britain is governed

Starmer said the missions would be the government’s “north star” in prioritising between thousands of conflicting demands. “If the answer is it helps with that mission, then the answer is yes. If the answer is it doesn’t, then the answer’s no,” he said.

And if the answer is it depends, because real life is complicated?

  • It's got a Dominic Cummings with a Kanban feel to it.

  • Labour describes Frank Hester's remarks as "reprehensible" and calls
on the Tories to return his £10m donations in full.

“Rishi Sunak has claimed that 'words matter', and he must know that
holding onto that money would suggest the Tories condone these
    disturbing comments."

    @PippaCrerar

  • with a Kanban feel to it.

Governance by white board and post it note.

    Love it!

Seems like a better option than whether the current mob are using...

  • Waterfall, clearly. With shit polluted water.

  • Waterfall

But call it Agile so you sound hip to the groove.

  • Utterly shameless stuff from Labour.

  • Is it? I might be missing something, but... Why?

  • Trying to raise funds on the back of a Racism scandal seems a little on the nose perhaps.

  • Yes maybe, I guess to me it doesn't seem particularly ridiculous given the scandal is racism + donations... But that seems more like "possibly in bad taste" than utterly shameless IMO. Point taken though

  • Look, you don't have to donate if you feel like Frank is getting a raw deal.

    It's a personal choice.

  • I think a lot of people are saying they are finding it opportunistic that labour are shouting about the mistreatment towards Diane Abbott while still having her suspended

  • I agree with you. It doesn't really offend me, I get the point they make.

  • That seems a bit weird. Should they only be bothered by racism towards labour members / MPs? I thought it was a more universal concern than that

  • Yeah that doesn't make any sense does it?

It's almost like simultaneously holding two thoughts in your head, like say thinking Shamima Begum's decisions were bad and also thinking it was shitty for her to lose he citizenship.
