The general rule is never button the lowest button for whatever nr of buttons.
Double breasted looks best if buttoned down.
Also if you can because real button holes, unbutton the first button of the sleeves.
I have even faked this with fake buttons by just sewing the first button to the outer not inner.
Much more elegant.
Then always button up when standing. Unbutton to sit.

Reminds me my first suit jacket was my dad's wedding suit fished out of a box in the attic when I was 15. Paco Rabanne from '86, grey with white and orange stripes, double breasted. Literally wore that to rags

Oh no. Unbuttoning your cuff buttons to show you have real cuff buttonholes is showing off and simply not done.
As for faking it on a suit that doesn't have them, absolutely not. That's one step away from wearing a fake Rolex.

I up you a fake Omega "Seamaster" that I regularly wear. Was gifted by my deceased mariner grandfather though, so emotional value and errything..
