Also interested in the engineered cork ^^
I'm redoing my bathroom currently. Has anyone tried panels as an alternative to tiles? For exampleCan't decide if they are shit? Will probably go tiles, but interested in any reviews.

We have cork click fix boards from https://www.colourflooring.co.uk/ in our kitchen. It’s lovely. Warm. Soft. Has held up fine to kitchen use thus far (about a year) without concerns. Because it’s cork it has a naturally irregular surface. I’m aware at some point it’s going to UV fade due to the kitchen aspect, but am so far very happy with it.

Seconded. I'd like a timber framed 1st floor extension over my lounge at the front of the house.

I would prefer cork over marm. Don't think our builders glued any of it down, we have about 30m2 but as @dbr says it wouldn't hurt...this was the stuff https://www.bricoflor.co.uk/cortex-corknatura-uv-pro-blx2011-rapid-sand-click-cork.html

What outdoor lights would you pick for this? There's one either side of the doors in the plan.

Ones that are shielded and whatever else makes it more wildlife friendly.

The ones @chrisbmx116 used for his.

What do I need to worry about in terms of wildlife? Something that doesn't have exposed hot bulbs that fry moths? Very keen to not to anything that will harm creepy-crawlies.

Seems that indirect and downwards is the way to go. Not just a ball that shines everywhere Also warm hue as it attracts less insects, which is probably nice for humans also.
No expert at all though. -

just out of interest, what's the plan for guttering etc?
sorry if it's already been discussed. -
• #9420
There's traditional-ish guttering in there, it's just under a cladding shell. I'll have a big water butt with a planter in the top in one of the corners and it should fill up nicely because our down pipe is used by one house to the left and two to the right.

Gotcha. That aligns with my preference too. I hate those floodlights people have outdoors that illuminate fourteen gardens.

nice! sounds like a well thought out plan.
planter on top of a water butt sounds neat. i've got to upgrade my bike shed soon, and this gets me thinking about incorporating some water butt cupboard type thing into it.i feel the need to do a sketch.

I'd hope so, given how much I've paid out to my architect! Water butt is just one of these, which should blend in nicely to the collection of pots and plants we'll clutter the decking up with over time:

ah, that looks loads nicer than the standard crap one i've got.
still, i think i might box it in now i've had the idea. -
• #9425
Box it in nicely and it'll look better than this one I'm sure.
