  • I like to make my presence known I guess.

Yeah, never having to ring a bell or shout to make yourself noticed is nice but hearing the birds and wind blowing through the trees n shit is nicer!

I was so gutted when the hub turned up and I gave a it a little twist it in my hand and it was quiet but I'd definitely choose a quiter hub over a loud one now.

  • I'm having a disc brake quandry.
From my old bikes I have one set of 785 1 piston caliper brakes (the ones with the shiny resevoir from ages ago), some m5oo (I think) basically deore brakes, not the revered m6100 ones, and from a new bike sram's new mineral oil db8s.
I would like to choose the best brakes to go with out of these in a balance of stopping power, serviceability and weight. Ideally with a plan to maximise money back selling what is left.
What should I go with please?
I'm happy to mix and match calipers and levers to make shiram if that is the done thing.

  • serviceability

    So not Shimano then

  • 😔

    Have you considered pedalling? 🙃

  • If I'm pedalling then I'm breathing oot ma arse and that drowns out the nice sounds!

  • My aunt and uncle used to have a Volvo 360 in that same colour. My cousins and I referred to it as "The Poo Car"

  • I hadn;t realised they did a carbon crank, although I can't find any info so perhaps that's new too.

I'm pretty apathetic to any colour anodising currently. I alway end up going with black or silver.

  • Announced today also, that might be why! https://www.hopetech.com/news/carbon-cranks/

    £550.

The Bronze might work well on my blacked out Crux. Anything else is a little lairy. Should be simple enough for details like bar end bolts, top cap bolt and bore caps. Perhaps locking rings too.

  • I don't think I'm cut out for current pricing in the bike world. Nice to see a 155mm option though.

Anodising can look great when it's just the right amount, but I'm not sure I trust myself to find the balance.

  • Just wanted to mention that I have a 2017 Kona Process 111 for sale. Full disclosure it is on ebay as a frame but would sell here as a rolling chassis: frame bb wheels fork headset dropper and saddle. If interested please give me a shout. I'm in Camberwell and happy to help with local delivery

  • Are there any bars out there that have a bigger "fat" section in the middle? ie. the same diameter as the clamp for more of the width of the bar so you can stick aerobars on in a wider position rather than right up at the stem.

I have some PRO road bars that are fat the whole way across which is a bit much but you get the idea I hope.

  • Another option is to do what Torsten and Ulrich are doing and run wide drop bars on the hardtail and then stick aerobars on those.

  • Looks like the quick release skewers on Halfords bikes that have been stored outside and have faded all to fuck.

  • This is pretty wild but may actually suit MTBs with their long reach

  • Pretty sure I've got a "bronze" shitty QR skewer in my parts bin!

  • £104 is bare jokes!

  • I mean, that is a thing, but it just adds another part to buy/fail.

  • I think the Stooge Moto bar might suit

  • Fail, sure. Although it's fairly simple in it's design. But buy, you're going to be be buying new handlebars anyway

  • £104 is bare jokes!

Well, that was a strike//through fail. Sigh.

  • Planning a couple of days in Peebles at the start of April - any good short / fun routes that would suit a 7yo?

I know there's plenty at GT to keep us occupied but we're taking the dug too - so quieter natural "mixed" trails would be great as the other half won't be cycling.

  • Does anyone make aftermarket cable shifters for Shimano? Something with a longer index trigger shift lever perhaps or even adjustable length levers? Just a thought while I think of other ways to arrange my thumb shifter. I'm very fucking close to throwing it in the bin and taping Di2 to the fucker. Next position will involve rotating the brake levers upwards so I can also rotate the thumbie further forward so I don't have to draw my thumb back so far to drop a gear.

  • Is this you?
