I had no idea you could stack it that high. Still prefer Vitsœ for the variety of shelves available but the USM stuff is brilliant and probably a bit more classy.
I also like the way that Vitsœ gets things off the ground.

Windows (finally) in! Huge relief that my measurements worked out, and that I managed to get the single-sash one sized and positioned the way it is. Had less than 10mm spare in the bottom left corner.
Porridge splatter pointing has been raked out, ready to be re-done properly using the correct tint of lime mortar, not tippex-white this time…

Yep. Anything that can get off the ground should do. Anything that you can't get a hoover (or robot hoover) under is just creating problems for you.

Also prefer to have record decks on brick wall mounted shelves if possible. That's probably just a victorian building thing though as my floorboards move quite a bit just from people walking in the room.

Looks great! Defo wish I had been able to go Velfac but maybe the difference isn’t as much as I think.
-
• #9360
Yeah I found Velfac to be not that much more expensive than a lot of mid-range alu windows, maybe ~20% difference after discounts. I pretended to be an architect to get almost £2K off the total quote, and ordered via our builder so it was VAT-free.
The triple-glazing, clear-lacquered timber frame and flippy reversible opening mechanism (so all windows can be cleaned from indoors) are all well worth the extra imo, as well as the large choice of internal and external RAL colours at no extra cost.

PS this is the welded alu apex trim piece, part of the alu coping that follows the sawtooth roofline as promised:

Nah I meant visually. Defo look better but I don’t think my slim Ali look hideous in comparison.

Your windows look great! Can’t go wrong with dark framed slim alu in a loft.

Isn't this the waiting area of a hairdressers somewhere around Shoreditch?
-

You making fun of Dieter Rams? Really?!?
@hugo7 no idea, it's been years I've been to Shoreditch. Funnily enough I have ex hairdressers wall furniture at home.
@cozzzzzzzz that's great work, them flowers were quite lonely.

I’ve had a 400x400 sink added to the design and switched a few things around to reflect what they’ll be used for.
What is the hive’s opinion on wall cupboards - is 300mm too narrow to be useful? Would it be better to have a couple of larger units over more small ones, at the cost of things lining up visually?
How much worktop space would you allow to the side of a hob? Currently only 300mm on the right, which feels as though it may be restrictive (although left side fully open).

We have a narrow side (although to open space not wall) and it's absolutely fine.
I'd always align upper and lower cupboards personally - we ended up with a 800,500,600 run with the same of wall cupboards. The 800 is 2x400 and are absolutely fine. 300 is fine for spices, boxed stuff (cereal/teas), tins that can stack.

re: the hob, if it's against a wall or full height cupboard then I think you may need minimum 400mm to be compliant with building regs.
worth checking the regs, the kitchen planner should know. -
• #9373
It’s 300. Which is why I had to go to a half width induction in my old flat as Wren wouldn’t fit a hob otherwise.
Tried to juggle things around but having under counter fridge and freezer meant one had to go to fit a full width.
Makes sense as you end up with handles over the other rings and pots to close to a wooden cupboard for fire safety. -

Any more details on the relaxations to permitted development recently announced?
Looks like multi-storey residential extensions might fall under PD… sounds like potential for a hellscape of oversized ziggurats towering over back gardens.
-
• #9375
I hope not as our neighbor has been talking about a double mega extension (despite being a single woman in a 3 bed house) which would completely block the light from the back of our house.
hopefully right to light is still a thing? 😑
If you look at the plugs it's somewhere forrin and therefore unsullied by London's famous dust.
