Hayfever

  • Unsure if it's time or if I'm just a bit ill. My hayfever is definitely less since moving out of London but don't know if I can get away without antihistamines.

  • How much local honey should I be mainlining right now? Is that even true?

  • There’s definitely something weird going on with my sinuses, my nose (& my sons) has been like a tap for three days.

  • You don't get hayfever from plants that insects (eg bees) pollinate, which intentionally stays in place for the insects to get to it, so difficult to make any argument that honey would help hayfever.

    It's probably pretty tasty though.

  • Yeah something about it never made much sense, that’s probably it. I think I suffer from trees and grasses. I’m also not a big fan of honey.

  • Yearly spring reminder to crush a lot of local honey into your diet starting now.

  • Missed this not scrolling and posting my propaganda anyway.

Yes it works, mine goes from an 8 to 2/3 on wanting to rip my face off come grass pollination time.

This paper describes a randomized controlled trial in which reduction in allergic rhinitis symptoms was found in correlation with ingestion of high doses (1g per kg of body mass, daily) of honey.

So, I would say that @hangedup has a case to answer.

  • I like the suggestion that there was no taste difference between some artisanal raw honey and corn syrup.

  • Surely all honey is artisanal, given that it’s crafted by artisans?

  • Hey I hardly had a case against it, I just thought it sounded like a bit of an old wives tale. And actually if I have to get through a jar of honey a week I think I’ll pass.

  • Diabetes or hay fever.

  • Wow

  • Such hay. So fever.

  • My face was on fire yesterday. Not so bad today

  • It’s bad atm right?
I’m wheezing and double dropping laratidine to help out. This past 5 days I’ve been coughing so bad I thought I was going to turn inside out at one point. It felt like my throat was trying to come out past my teeth.

I’ve been on antibiotics for 3 days because of a cccccccombo of chest thing/hayfever.

    Fun times

  • When I get it its bad these days, really prevents me from getting anything done. Maybe I should visit my GP

  • Can't tell if eye strain or plant spunk killing me

  • Probably plant spunk. My eyes have been bothering me, and I have sinus discomfort. I haven't had it this bad in about 5 years!

  • Never had hayfever this bad in April before

  • Yesterday I thought that it I was going down with something it was so bad. I sneezed every couple of minutes for about three hours and started getting the sweats.

I was travellling back from Denmark and had no access to meds til I got home. Horrible.

  • For anyone who isn't aware already / has forgotten, you can get fexofenadine over the counter now. I normally keep it as a backup for May / June when things are at their worst for me, but I may have to deploy it earlier.

  • Online pharmacies have the 30 packs of fexofenadine quite a bit cheaper.

120mg per day at the moment in the morning with an extra daily cetirizine at night time seems to be keeping the symptoms under control.

Was planning a bike ride today, absolutely no chance.

I can understand why as a pro cyclist you might double down on the high power treatments (performance enhancing benefits aside)

  • In France right now, face being massacred by grass pollen…

  • Hmm, should have dosed up before wading through the meadows this morning.
