Stayed a night in Capileira and rode back to Granada yesterday with another rider. Took the ‘direct’ route back but it was still 70k with 1k climbing! Gonna come back with my fiancé and ride the Veleta pass together.

@thelaeman - how did you get on? I couldn’t find you on the tracker during the race but it but it looks like you finished a few hours ago. Hat.

@cjr - As we talked about in Granada post race..that was a tough one. Well done you for doing it in just over 3 days. Impressive pedalling. Agree your comments on the sand. On that subject not sure that the long beach run into Almeria is needed. Kudos to everyone who rocked up on the start line and gave it a crack. I've got to jump on the turbo but are there any route changes for 2022? It didn't go over Veleta this year did it and won't in 2022? Is that climb likely to find its way back in or was it deemed too sketch? Might be nice to ride down that way again. Maybe bring the missus and her gravel bike too.. :)

Still dealing with the Veleta Pass. The 2021 route finished at the bottom of Veleta (Capileira). Some riders enjoyed the pass over 3.000m height once the event finished to go back to Granada, after a good rest and food, and without pressure because of the deadline... it's also a great option.
Mal is always welcome, with or without her bike ;)

I did it after food and a good rest in the race haha. Poor Bruno thought we'd be racing each other up there, he rode, while I was eating dinner and going to bed in a nice hotel room. :D
But I wasn't going to climb Veleta a second time in the middle of the night. I'm glad I saw it during the day, it's an amazing climb.

She's got experience off-road now (https://thehippy.net/blog/an-turas-mor-glasgow-to-cape-wrath-day-2/) so she might actually be up for racing this time instead of just chilling out in Granada (she hired a bike and climbed Veleta during Badlands so wasn't that chill).
