I have a response from BETD too. It's polite and informative, but doesn't specifically answer the question of replacing the axle on the RO2 cranks I have. Instead they recommend (three times! for three different reasons!) I use RS8s.
I'm officially abandoning my attempt to create White Industries A30 alternative using things I have in the cellar. I hope you have better luck!

I'm waiting for Middleburn/BETD to get back to me about swapping the axle on some RO2 cranks. I was hoping it would be possible if I post the cranks back to them. Will let you know if/when they respond.
