Update - still not left the carrier. Put her in a quiet corner to just be to herself. Doesn't seem particularly stressed or anything

Things will take time.. what's her name, by the way?

Looking good :)

She's called May. Deliberately trying not to go fussing her and she's now settling down on the sofa.
She's been scratching quite a bit, but I guess with her being in the shelter since December is letting off some steam and a few claws have been shed already. Next step is making sure she uses her own bed tonight

Looking forward to hearing what she chooses! Mine sleeps next to me, spooning. Sometimes we hold hands.

Well sheβs yet to come upstairs yet so that currently rules out our bed, ha. She seems to enjoy sitting under the dining table where they have cushions

Soon be her place.

You'll be asleep and she has all night to discover where you've gone...to the magical land of pillows and duvets and safe high places.

There are few better ways to round off a fine Saturday night after watching some rugby, lots of beers, a gig and a late supper than coming home to a giant elderly floof for some snuggles before bedtime.

Morning dude! What's the update?

• #13315
We brought her upstairs and to be honest, she wasn't so keen on it; spiral staircases are not her thing. If she's going to be a downstairs cat, no qualms at all.
Used her litter tray this morning so another box ticked off. Gave her a brush and a good chunk of hair has flown off. Still wants to scratch the sofa a bit when she's on it; trying to mimic it on the board we have, but no dice.
No interest in her own bed so far, but at this point she seems to have her happy/safe space on the chairs under the dining table.

Moved her bed below the staircase and lo and behold she's using it - suffice to say that's her area, with no real interest yet in coming back up.
We think she has a bit of a cold as she's sneezing quite a bit and theres a bit of gunk around her left eye that needs wiping off every now then - not sure there's too much to worry about just yet
Overall, she seems very content

Nice update from the Vet, the kitten we took in last week is doing very well, is very friendly, has been named Jasmin and is on her way to a new home soon.

Day 3. Still got a bit of stuff around her eyes (she does not like me wiping it off with a tissue at all), but stopped sneezing as frequently compared the last few days. With any luck she's on the mend.
Anyone got any suggestions for a good lint roller/something for hair collection? We got the Furminator one from Pets at Home but it's broken so already a hard pass

For cat, something like the Furminator, fierce metal thing, works best. Ours didn't break yet.
For clothes/furniture the sticky roller from muji is good. -

I've had one of these for about a decade that I haven't needed to replace, it's used all the time and the cat (domestic short hair) ruddy loves it.
