  • All analogue. Real springs. There's an overdrive circuit and a reverb circuit, so I'm thinking I'll leave an amp like the Musicmaster Bass downstairs with just this. Should be fun for noodling.

  • I don't need any more gear but that looks so fun!

  • Same.

  • Behringher have been smashing it with their clones. I’d expect it to be close to the real thing

  • Drove up to Meltham to see Jeff

  • I don't know what it is, but I want one.
    In fact, I want two.

  • It’s the switching mechanism for you to try your desired amp with all the myriad of speakers they supply in their cabs.

  • All those 1x12’s have different speakers in.

I’m deffo getting a Green Series 3000 head.

  • Fired this up today. Such a good amp.

  • You’d love Jeff. He has some amazing stories. 72 years old still works in that factory 7 days a week, every day of the year.

  • So I have a couple of interesting amps that need to find new homes. I won’t spam this with loads of pics/details so here’s the basics:

    1. Valvepower 18w Lite IIb Marshall clone with VVC/power scaling. It’s in a (very) homemade 1 x 12 combo cab with an old Celestion speaker.

    2. Matamp/Orange inspired amp made by a guy who used to work at Radiocraft in Huddersfield. It’s an incredibly well put together thing in a 1 x 12 cab with an integrated fan and the head can be also be unscrewed and slid out. 25w 2 x EL84 (old Mullards), it has a 70’s Greenback in it at the moment which I think I’d like to keep. It’s also been checked over/tweaked by an amp tech since I bought it.

If anyone is interested in either of these and would be able to collect (Croydon) then I’d be happy to pass on for a relatively bargainous price before I advertise properly. For more deets pop me a line.

  • So, I got a set of P-Rails in Triple Shot Rings, ready to fit. I have wired them in, pretty easy stuff in the end – especially since the rings and pickups were already set up, it was a like-for-like job.

However the bridge PU is pretty weedy compared to the neck (which is all I'd dreamed of). I've got in touch with the retailer but can anyone in here think of anything obvious that could be causing this?

I checked over my wiring/soldering again yesterday, made sure the pickups werent pinching the PCB, etc etc. All seems fine, I even swapped out the capacitor for my neck PU to match the aftermarket one I'd already fitted to the bridge, just to be sure.

  • Out of phase maybe? I'm normally useless at these things BTW, I've never changed a pick-up in my life. But that's my best guess. 🙃

  • Actually that's a great shout, it does sort of sound like that. I'll dive into the wiring diagrams again

  • Question for the group. I'm about to start gigging with a new project, I need fuzz bass for one tune and the other songs are electric guitar where necessary. I don't wanna carry a bass around, would an octave pedal do a similar job? And will that wreck a guitar amp?

I suddenly thought about the sound Gussie in Earth Tongue gets out of her Tokai Hummingbird, which is totally mind-blowing. I would be very happy with that!

  • This is back together after replacing a speaker, next up getting the staple gun out and some checkerboard grill cloth…

  • Purple tolex!! And does it need a smaller logo? That looks a bit big to my eyes. I'm probably wrong, obvs. Such a great amp.

In octaver news, I tried the octave setting on my Zoom Multistomp and it sounds fucking great. In a shit way. It burbles like a sequencer trying to find the note which works really, really well, love it!

So the rig is Jag > mini pedalboard - tuner, compressor, fuzz, Zoom, delay > Vox AC4TV. Compact!

I sent Earth Tongue a message on insta and Gussie uses a POG into two amps, guitar and bass.

  • I don’t want to see another staple in a while, but pretty happy with the result. Yes the logo seems too big when looking at original ones. Still a bit of red on it haha, can't face removing more of the glue goop again yet, still traumatised.
