Morning. Looking for a top tube protector for my Bullitt, that has a bit of extra give in it to accommodate two power cables, running from the battery+inverter on my rear rack along the frame into my cargo area (powering the subwoofer and the midtop speaker). I see there is one at really useful bikes for £35. But the important thing is that extra bit of space to accommodate those two cables, both of which are thicker than a standard IEC power cord. Any recommendations? Last week I was using loads of single velcro straps and it was a pain in the arse; but I have to be very careful with the electrical cable management so need a solution. Thanks.

If you find a bmx style one with separate foam and cover, you can slice a bit off the foam lengthwise to leave a channel for the cables to sit in.

Have you tried the “bags made by me” thread on here?

Interesting for those without outdoor storage space.

Seems there is quite a few folding longtails around. price seems excessive for what you get.

£1K for the upgraded handlebar!!!

You mean the exquisite FloFit bars that bring a quantum leap in rider comfort? Worth twice the price surely....

The real head scratcher is that the proprietary bits dont seem to do anything better, its just there.

Are you saying there isn’t a quantum leap? Fuck sake

I can't imagine any hinge lasting more than a few years on a cargo bike. I know with a longtail you are placing most of the load on the rear wheel rather than between them but still, it's a lot of force to go through a couple of pins.

The fact that the only footage they have is 3d renders doesn't fill me with confidence, loads of proprietary bits and costs mega bucks.
Hard pass.

Just had a graze through it... no top tube protectors. I really want to get something off the peg as I want to have it for the next ride, I want the cables wrapped up better. Thanks for the tip though.

Yeah I think that's the same as this one:
https://www.reallyusefulbikes.co.uk/larry-vs-harry-bullitt/bullitt-top-tube-protectorI might ask my partner if she could make something as she's good with a sewing machine, but getting the free time to do it is the main problem!

Why do you want one? I don't understand "cables wrapped up better"

Best option for a 20“ 32h rim for cargo bile wheel? I have seen there is a ryde andria 40 25mm (o have had good luck with these) and a tern atlas 35mm? Need 32 for rohloff, rear wheel for longtail. Are there better options?

My favourite if easily available is Kinlin MX8. Tried and tested on Urban Arrow XL fleet in commercial setting and never had one fail- even since I left the workshop over two years ago.
The Ryde Andra that come as stock all fail after a few months. I’ll try and find a picture of what the failure looks like.
That said they are probably fine in regular use.
Also just re read that you are building a 20” wheel, I’d say Ryde Andra fine for that, never had issue with the smaller rims
That sounds like a decent cover - I'll check it out - thanks!
I have the Douze official one but it was a prototype and was just ok
