Back in my coding days, I'd wake up in the middle of the night with a solution to a problem I was working on, so would leave myself a voicemail to explain it.
Every single time the voicemail made no sense whatsoever the following morning.
I used to do that when I was writing my PhD thesis.
Some things sort of made sense, others were just wild. I've probably got some of the recordings somewhere as I used to use a micro cassette recorder.
apparently this is a thing, that when you sleep your brain repairs so you're able to make connections that you physically would not have been able to the day before. incredible.
I assumed that there is some overlap of sleep and work
