Ha! I meant Alfine 11! I hate the jumps in Alfine 8. Doesn't take long to take the 8 apart, but agree, far easier to do oil change on the 11 vs. regrease on the 8. I've just read too many things about fragility that have put me off, but this is the issue with the internet - too many people claiming about stuff! :)

Nice.
Mine should be easy - the transporter 65 is just a box so was planning on fitting it to the back of that and running the cable down to the motor. Will have a look into it. -

I mean its only a flat plat from the looks or?
-
• #13105
are you going to drill the box tho?

CNC is really only necessary for parts with complex curves or shapes. A flat plate with mounting points can be done with a ruler, a hacksaw and a drill.

• #13107
its like a C or an L shape that is sort of canti-lever mounted to the those frame split bolts

That's the plan

I have been running the 11 speed on our bullitt for somewhere between 2000-3000km until now - have only done the oil change after the initial 1000 km.
It lives outside (under a roof) and has ridden through some truly awful weather.
I upgraded on the advice from a good friend, who is a certified bike mechanic.I'd like a rohloff, but it only makes sense if a) it's an expensive treat to myself or b) my mileage increases dramatically (think 5000-10000k) a year.

Yeah but still like a flat plane? Could probably sort this with some plate alloy and a saw drill. Someone could probably make you one.

yeah for sure!

And it's these comments that have made me stick with the agricultural yet largely reliable Alfine 8!

Radwagon and mycycle come to mind, no personal experience and not sure if both still deal with UK.
Bike Friday also do a long tail that looks really cool (picture of one I spotted at my local supermarket)

Not Fully Charged! They've not been great in my experience.

We got a yuba Kombi a couple of months ago. A lot cheaper than a tern and I’m happy with it.

Hi all!
I am still alive!
Just living the dream down in Folkestone. What's the go to cargo bike weather cover for long wheel base bike?
-

I really rate the bikeparka cargo that I had on my bullitt. Covered my bike for about a year and a half in my front garden before we moved out of London.
The cover is really light and packs away tiny if you need it to, I never had any issues with water getting through. My bike still has zero rust but I also always gave the bike a quick dry with a towel if it was wet before putting the cover on.
+1 would love a rohloff - but for the money I think the Alfine 11 can't be beat.
Much easier to do the oilchange in the bike than having to take the hub almost completely apart to re-lube an 8 speed.
