  • I might be losing my Bullitt storage soon because of life stuff. Hence I’m contemplating a smaller footprint cargo bike for a toddler such as the Tern GSD or whatnot.

The thing I love about the Bullitt is the canopy and snooze space- meaning the little one can be tucked up warm and dry whilst we’re bombing about.

Are there any good reclining seats and canopy options for the Tern type bikes?

And finally, any reccomendations for cheaper brands than Tern?

    Thanks!

  • We had a hamax caress on the GSD before it got stolen

Was great, my kid is 4 but small, she was on the verge of growing out of it

You wont want to hear this but just in terms of diff between a long tail and long john the ride feel is night and day, had a bullitt in the past, then GSD and now a Load 60. Long johns ride so much nicer, much more stable. If you get a stormbox on the tern with kid so high up in the wind its quite unsettling feeling and esp if they are moving.

We bought the GSD for sharing as Bullitt standover was too tall for my partner.

  • Not a popular opinion in the UK but while canopies are handy they are definitely not a necessity. Dress your kids for the weather, they'll be fine.

  • Radwagon and mycycle come to mind, no personal experience and not sure if both still deal with UK.

Bike Friday also do a long tail that looks really cool (picture of one I spotted at my local supermarket)

  • We got a yuba Kombi a couple of months ago. A lot cheaper than a tern and I’m happy with it.
