My partners kettle wasn’t noisy but stayed on boil for way too long, filling the kitchen with steam.
Our kettle is noisy and boils for ages when it needs a descaling. Once we do that it's quiet and quick (to boil and turn off) again.
Also, variable temperature kettles (a.k.a. "smart kettles" *spit*) are a thing.

Which one?

Anywhere that has a shop chock-full of toys that you have to pass through to exit.
Cnuts.

The noise my discs make when there’s a single water molecule in the vicinity

my fucking arm

You have one specifically for that activity?

Don't we all?

Okay, that actually made me laugh

Fisting injury?

Elbowing more like. Will need another surgery because post crash and plated up broken humerus now my ulnar nerve flicks from one side of the elbow to the other when I be d it, hence why I perpetually feel like someone's kicked my funny bone.

Ow fuck
I find proper whacks to the funny bone leave it tingling and buzzing up and down my arm. -

Going to the recycling centre.
It should be cathartic, but the level of waste just puts me in a massive mood.
"where should I put x?"
"non-recyclables mate""where should I put y?"
"non-recyclables mate""I've got this perfectly good z somebody could use, where should it go?"
"non-recyclables mate"Go to put scrap wood in the wood, only to see loads of decent wood and a nest of coffee tables.
I know is easy to comment from a privileged position, and I've bought loads of shit from aliexpress over the years, but it does feel like if stuff was more expensive then it would be worth making it better and also be viable to repair.
-
• #24365
The nest of tables seems a terrible waste. We put stuff like that on Freecycle or even just leave it at the end of the driveway - someone always wants it.
-
• #24366
Our local recycling place has an area for good furniture, electrical items that still work, nik naks etc and which they sell on at very, very low prices.
-
• #24367
If you stare long enough into the non recyclables, the non recyclables will stare back at you.
The ones around SE are grim, no matter how diligent i am about separating stuff they all end up in the same shit heap.

Loads of things because I'm in a fucking savage mood.
But in particular big vehicles.
It was shit when there weren't loads but it's fucking ridiculous now.
Every other cunt seems to have a fucking pickup or absolutely massive SUV.
I swear we need to have a weight and width weighting applied to road tax. Something you have to paid annually to feel the fucking pain, instead of rolling into bitesize monthly finance payments.

• #24369
Paris might be introducing triple rate parking charges for big vehicles. Some speculate that if it gets voted in other cities may follow
Hopefully it's a start.

Banning all cars would be simplest and best
-
• #24371
Fucking pickup trucks! It seems their load volume is inversely proportional to their overall volume, literally fucking pointless.
One of the nobs at work bought one, couldn't close the roll top when his chopsaw was in the boot 🤌🏼 -
• #24372
Given the increase in road damage as vehicles get heavier increased charging seems reasonable. Some of the electric SUVs that are coming out are ludicrous.
I saw this recently visualising how wear is to the fourth power of weight:

Hahahaha...bet it makes him look really cool though...?

Colleague has one and needed extra cargo room so he fitted a roof box which he then removed entering a multi-storey car park
-
• #24375
He removed it much more quickly than he should have, using fewer or no tools...?
Yep. We just had to replace ours and have found a quiet boil kettle. It’s great.
My partners kettle wasn’t noisy but stayed on boil for way too long, filling the kitchen with steam.
Kettle tech is only marginally more sophisticated than toaster tech which is only marginally more sophisticated than a stick and an open fire.
