All criminal offences. 236 is a Qatari diplomatic plate, so I suspect no shits will be given at the embassy.

4.3 Police Powers and Procedures
Those granted diplomatic immunity are normally immune from arrest or detention,
but every case must be dealt with on its own merits.
It must be remembered that the overriding duty of the police under Common Lawis
to protect the welfare and safety of the public. Where a crime has been committed
or alleged, police have a duty to investigate it.
Action must be taken to prevent a diplomat committing an offence or further offences
if it is perceived that any person could be endangered.i'd report it anyway.

i'd report it anyway.

I have experience of how many shits Embassies give, I’m not going to report it (I wouldn’t have posted here if I was).
The Police will look for any out and when he accelerated and turned into me from the right turn only lane I accelerated hard and steered left. This was a better move than braking but….
Also
The full video ends with him pulling up beside me (using a bus lane) on Edgeware Road and a lot of me swearing.

fair enough. my general approach nowadays when driving is to just pull in and let them get on with it.
doesn't matter if they're sat in front of me in a queue of traffic that's not going anywhere anyway.cunts gonna cunt. stay zen.
which reminds me, i've not watched the new ogmios video yet!

I slowed down because I’ve lost sight of the bike. Mercedes gets upset and tries to overtake me.
Looking further back the VW had been up the Toyotas arse for a long time.

We've been reporting ever since our little one started at school in September. We ride a solo and a Bullitt cargo bike (kitted out with cameras front and rear), single-file, for the whopping three-mile roundtrip. We've noticed the number of reportable incidents increasing steadily and now, we average about one dangerous driver per day. We are not exaggerating and the police concede that everything we report is fully justified, with nearly everyone receiving a Notice of Intended Prosecution for their driving. But something interesting just happened.
We were called by one of the police team that monitors the camera submissions and warned that we might be in danger as people will no doubt begin to figure out who reported them, if we take the same route every day. We were told to be careful as we could face "backlash" to our reports, especially from those who have incurred fines/points etc. So basically, we are being told to either stop reporting, drive everywhere (not a chance) or face the real risk of getting a hiding simply for trying to protect our four-year-old daughter. The threat was made so plain that we have now bought extra cameras, that we can wear, in case people follow us home or try to approach us at the school.
Can we all take a minute to just revel in the ridiculousness of this, as well as the totally avoidable nature of it all?

Christ that’s depressing

That sucks. You've made the right decision though! Carry on catching!
-
• #9663
We will. We just hope nobody is nasty enough to try to have their kids pick on ours! Though I will be honest, she can handle herself, probably better than me.

“Nobody likes a grass” is fucking bullshit spouted by people who like committing crimes.
My concern is that someone you have reported may have asked plod “is it that twat on the cargo bike…”
You are doing the right thing but this is a fucking depressing account of events to read.

Unreal!! But surely you are not the only one riding on each of these people's commute. If there was a serial offender then maybe they could suspect you but I think that would be highly unlikely.
I had a crazy close pass yesterday.
White SUV - Tick!
Unfortunately I was on my MTB and although I thought I had wiped the rear lens clean before hitting a road section i had smeared it and I couldn't see the registration number. Typically I forgot to fit my front camera. -

Unfortunately, we are the only parents that ride our kid to school and we don't see anyone else on our route on bikes (rural life, not city commuting) so that, coupled with the sore arse that is a cargo bike... we are easy targets now.
Yeah, the whole "snitches get stitches" crap is fun and games until someone is actually getting stitches or it's a child that has been hurt. Because I can tell you this... if I have to deal with another hit-and-run with my bubba on the bike I might actually lose what is left of my mind.
Oh and one of the worst that we reported? A driving instructor who is also a parent at the school.

Yeah this feels like bollocks and plob being lazy. As eskay's say in less there is a serial offender this doesn't make any sense. I assume the bike mounted cameras don't show any details of your bike, that might be something worth considering.
(rural life, not city commuting)
Sorry assume this was busy london life etc. I used to ride with my daughter to the nursey on a cargo bike in very similar circumstances. The most direct route would have been 3miles. I opted for a nearly 6 miles
route to stay out of the way of the worst roads and let me hop pavements strategically. -

i had a similar concern to you regarding getting identified and potential repercussions as I live in a semi rural location and my commute takes me through villages, so there aren't hundreds of people on bikes around.
the first incident i reported was about 25 metres from my front door, so if the driver had requested to see the footage it might not have been that difficult to identify me (i clipped the end of the footage to remove the bit where i arrived home, but still...) -

Sending solidarity!

• #9670
If you're reporting stuff everyday, hopefully it's just a lazy, shit cop getting annoyed at having to do some work.
-
• #9671
also, kudos to you for bothering to report all of the incidents! you must spend a fair chunk of your evenings editing videos and submitting reports if the portal is anything like the leics police one.
-
• #9672
Surely the fuzz should keep you anonymous. Even if asked it should be "from a concerned individual"
Do they have to show the offender the video footage? -
• #9673
on the portal for leics police it asks for all of your details and if you're willing to give evidence.
i was under the impression that the offender had the rights request to see the footage? just an assumption though. -
• #9674
Do they have to show the offender the video footage?
Yes. Basic principle of justice is the accused gets to see the evidence against them.
(There are exceptions around some counter espionage laws and probably others)

• #9675
Only if it goes to court, no, under rules of disclosure?
that's shocking!
