Anyone remember the Standard Application Form? Some employers wanted you to complete their own application form, but many would accept a SAF. Get a blank one from the university careers centre and fill in the employer's name in the space provided.
I knew someone who wanted a job at J. Arthur Rank. He got home from a night on the piss, realised the deadline was imminent and filled in the form while drunk. In the space for his own name he wrote J. Arthur Rank. He was invited for interview and this was pointed out to him by the Rank representatives. They said they had no questions for him. They just wanted to meet him. After that everybody knew him as Rank. I can't remember his real name but I have happy memories of 'Rank' being shouted across a pub.
