Watched Saltburn last night on Prime.
Much better than I was expecting. Great looking film with a funny script and decent cast. A nice couple of twists though pretty predictable.
Rosamund Pike steals every scene she's in but Barry Keoghan and Richard E. Grant are ace too.
Would recommend.

the stage production of My Neighbour Totoro
It is class. There's a stage version of Spirited Away at the Coliseum later this year too.

Yeah I'm very excited! I was meant to go this time last year but had a brutal chest infection so had to skip it. My cousin went and wouldn't shut up about how good it was which made me feel loads better. Spirited Away looks great too.

Totoro brought a tear to the eye. The main singer, Ai Ninomiya is really great.

Thanks for this btw. Just booked tickets to see at the BFI preview Q&A and after party. Greatly appreciate the heads up.

Watched Ferrari last night. Real enjoyed it - some great acting from Driver and Cruz.
Helps if youāre into motorsport. And if you are, try to catch it at the cinema so you can feel the V12s through the speakers. :-)

I saw it the other day. I couldn't give less of a shit about motorsport or cars in general but still enjoyed it. As you said, some good performances!

Greg Wilson was telling me about this a couple of days ago.

Are you going to his set at the ministry sat 10th Feb by any chance? That was to @dancingĀ james btw and ref Greg Wilson.

Yeah it was great! Some good but also some pretty hammy performances. The sets and choreography were stunning though, very much enjoyed it.

Poor Things - brilliant. Strong recommend!

Caught Napoleon before it left the big screen and glad I did. Both leads were great and gave their characters an atypical but believable rendering. The film covers a lot of ground at a fast pace but everything is clearly explained. Looks good too. A hit.

Unlikely. Just due to the cost of travel to london and then accommodation on top. Though am now thinking maybe I could find an extra excuse or reason to visit London to make it worthwhile. If I do go would you want to come?
I had lost touch with Greg - I am a huge fanboy and heād stay at my place when he relaunched his dj career and Iād carry the reel to reel into gigs for him. He then messaged me a week ago to see if the number he had for me was correct and we got chatting. Next day a signed copy of his book turned up! Talking with him was like no time had passed, we share a lot of weird common interests around music, robert anton wilson, synchronicity, art etc.

I was always aware of Greg Wilson but growing up in London it was Mike Allen and Greg Edwards I listened to pre pirate DBC and Kiss, and Tony Williams on a Sunday.
This should probably be on another thread.

Just got to Saltburn. Mostly just captivated and distracted by the aspect ratio choice, which I think was a good one. Many hackneyed themes and tropes, but it felt pretty original and fresh and just generally enjoyable and entertaining. Definite recommend.

Watched The Courier on iPlayer last night. Cumberbatch playing a businessman coopted into assisting cold war espionage. Not sure I'd say it's anything overly remarkable but it was a decent enough watch.
I'm off to see it on Sunday I think. I'm seeing the stage production of My Neighbour Totoro at the Barbican on Friday as well so it's going to be a Miyazaki heavy weekend!
I might need to watch something extremely un-whimsical on Saturday to even things out a bit.
