I haven't had any issues with Altra build quality but I haven't got any of the very latest versions, I had two pairs of Mont Blancs from 2022 that are going strong still, Lone Peak All Weather boots from last year that lasted a 200 mile run happily and Escalante 4s from about 4 years ago that I'm just about to retire. Got some of the Vanish Carbons 2nd hand, the outsole wore through pretty quick but I think that is to be expected of the fancy race shoes. Man I sound like an Altra fan boy.... Annoyingly they are the only easily available in the UK running shoes I can wear now if I'm not in minimalist shoes. Even Vivos are too narrow for me!
Are recent Altra shoes really as poorly built as reviews online would have you believe? I’ve got some Topo Athletic trail shoes that I love, but on the road side I have some Hoka Clifton 8s in wide, tried them a few times, but their high sided insoles don’t agree with my feet.
I much prefer running on trails, but it is a touch limiting doing laps of parks or connecting as much trail as one can in south London. So im trying to open things up a little by solving my road running shoe for wide feet issue without the expense of ordering another pair from Topo Athletic in the states
