Snots! Bloody try-hards with their tier 1 teams. Tsk tsk.

snots are tier 1 of the tier 3s though 😉
Underworld are nonsense. Honestly after doing ok at a tournament with them I am not super hype to play them again. They just play BB one way very well which can be a bit non interactive.

Done my first fantasy mini, was fun and a different sort of challenge
I tried using contrast paints, something I found previously I didn't enjoy. I’m still on the fence with them, I don’t think I like how washed out they look, but they serve a purpose. All learning!
I like how the model turned out tho, it was a fun couple of hours and definitely much faster than traditional painting!

Henry Cavill being EP bodes well considering he left his role as Geralt on The Witcher as they were straying too far from established lore even though he was so good in the role

He was the only half decent thing about that show. Apparently the writers even boasted about having never read the books. Hopefully Amazon has learnt from this but I'm still not expecting much.

Yeah hopefully there is some decent warhammer films/tv shows out if he's sorta at the helm.
Its very nostalgic of from when I did play a lot when i was young.

Thanks for the brush and airbrush suggestions on here. They were passed on as not so subtle hints and Santa delivered. Been waiting to base some minis and give the airbrush a go. Might start with a tiny legions imperalis rhino we picked up a while back (mini of the month when the game was released).
Eldest got a Tau broadside battlesuit so I'm looking forward to helping him with that too.

Partner got me a box of shroud runners for Xmas, i don’t like flying bases so made then a regular base with the usual cork and texture paint, a little 2mm wire, still working out the angle to pose it so not drilled and tapped yet
I like how it came out! Done in one evening while watching chainsaw man and witch from mercury
my palette is cleansed now, I’m going to crack on with my orange space marine project. I also received some blooded and some skiitari (was clearly a good girl this year), then while I was in Nottingham for work I bought the sydonian skatros (I love him he’s so goofy). My plan is to paint the skitari in complimenting colours and base them the same as the space marines, then do the blooded in a similar way, hopefully long term build it out to having all of my fave 40K models based and painted in schemes which look like they’re all on the same battlefield.
No interest in playing but a lot in diorama

Loving the paint on that bike! Gives it so much movement. How did you do it?

Anyone else liking the look of the new Combat Patrol magazine? Been thinking of picking up another CP for a while so I can paint something a bit different so this seems like a good way to dip my toes into lots of factions.

Lol I saw this pic first and I thought you’d done some kind of mod so that they were taking a hit from a hip flask or bottle or something. To which I was like “hell yeah, drinking on the job”

thank you!
it's rakarth flesh base coat (a pinky, purply, brown white), then stippled with screaming skull (sandy white) leaving some of the base coat showing. i use an old brush to get the paint texture.
then it's glazed with skeleton hoard
when it's dry i went back and edge highlighted the sharpest edges with screaming skull
recessed shadeed the deepest panels on the wings and such with agrax
you could push it further by adding a lighter off white to the stippling section, or a light dry brush after the glaze but i wanted it done in an afternoon.
the undercarridge is corvus black (grey black), dry brushed with leadbelcher (gun metal) then a lighter dry brush of bright silver. any heated engine parts i picked out with a off white and then glazed with blue contrast paint. again you could push this with an edge highllight and using a purple; orange glaze with the blue for heat effects.
at its core, base coat, lighter shade stippling, then glaze, i find is a great way to get a readable, quick paint job which has some interest to it. you can also use a sponge to stipple it instead to create something softer
@Eejit haha! average hedonist aeldari drinking and driving

The problem is the good magazines will be near impossible to get hold of, but it should mean the models will be on eBay for cheaper than usual
-
• #618
It sounds like a nice idea, but it seems overall saving over RRP is about 30%, and shops/websites like the outpost have a flat discount of 20% off RRP for GW stuff, so it's not as amazing of a deal as it first seems. Unless the "free gifts" or actual magazines appeal I'd be inclined just to buy a new box.

I think there will be some of them I'd be interested in, marines definitely, maybe a couple of the tyranid ones but not too keen on collecting a whole CP (for some reason I'm not so keen on some of the minis even though I think they are a fun army with lots of thematic options etc), Votann, Orks, maybe some guard and some genestealers but none of the chaos factions interest me. Don't need any more cheap brushes or not-great tools and I already have an ok amount of paints.
Ideally you need a friend or two with non-overlapping interests to split the CPs (and cost) up and still get the bonus models etc.

Built a bot out of a paint pot and beads inspired by bill making stuff. I used some guitar string for the cables.
Was fun! First time using green stuff on the claw.
I recommend giving it a go!

love this goofy guy, from his spindly legs and double goggles, to his exhaust dong and helpful servo arm
Painted him in my custom chapter colours; I was a lucky woman this Christmas and received a box of skitarrii rangers to add along with him, some blooded for him to face. Excited to do those.
The base was a joy to paint up and got me itching to do proper dioramas

Proud dad moment - my 8 year old has just finished his first batch of Tyranids from the Leviathan box. Mostly Army Painter speedpaints with a bit of Citadel technical and layer paint on the bases.
