Hard to believe it's post STI... that's crazy. The road bike wasn't finished until dual control.
There's no way the rear shifter at least wouldn't earn its keep. I remember that was a thing; one STI and one DT shifter.
The same year he was riding another Klein bike set up with one sti shifter a dt shifter for the front.
