After our NB convo this has just appeared in my LinkedIn, and I’ve got to say the copy echoes the conversation we’ve been having..

Ps. I’d never wear them in a million years, no matter what the colour way is….
Not even on doctor's orders? For a while I had no choice, I was in fucking agony. Once the pain went away I switched back to the basic bitch Beaverton trabs.

Not real Stoney in 2000. Osti left some time before.

You lads are missing the point on alt-dad trainers.. OG dads switched to Saucony Jazz and ASICS gel because they were a much cheaper option than the normy-dad option of NB to press the pedals in the MPV en route to kids club.

Dunno.
Those Shadow GTX were 145 sheets...
Last NB I bought were 997H and under a ton afaik
Sunflower Gel Lytes were also around the same...

Nike gave me £20 off anything over £60, so ordered these. Ended up being £42.49

All the women on campus at my uni, whatever age, are in 90s style NB and Fila big white trainers

Bit of a random long shot, but before I search vinted does anyone have an old pair of size 9 shell toes they're happy to post?
My decorating ones have finally fallen apart. Ideally an all black pair, but not fussy. Looking to spent <£15 so no fancy Ltd Ed ones.
Also it struck me how much pricing ranges on fashion. I went to exchange an xmas pair of trainer today and saw the sambas my whole house at uni bought because they were £17 in schuh, now selling for £70. I should probably see if they're in my folks loft.
While Reebok court shoes are now relegated to the sale section again. -

Sambas in any other style/colour than pictured are an unholy abomination

I couldn’t agree more, those were the trainers we all lusted after as kids.
It’s weird that the OG Samba was so in vogue this year, it’s such a dull looking shoe.

Can I get some suggestions for similar trainers to NB 574s/373 that aren't from New Balance?
Now getting to the acceptance that despite my feet not changing much and wearing them through most of my 20s that they're just not that comfortable for me anymore.
Pondering over a pair of Allbirds or something from Saucony - brands I've never worn before

Karhu worth a look

This seems strange to me.
Have you put on weight?
What specifically is not comfortable?
My immediate thought is you might be better off going to a podiatrist and seeing if you need some innersoles to rotate or support your foot. It seems unlikely another brand in the same design will make much difference. You're not substantially changing the sole material, support or structure.

I loved mine but wore through the suede toe box in no time, the rest of the shoe was still perfect. What a waste!

last ages
I cleaned my 311 last night and out of curiosity checked when I bought them. May 2021 for £28 from Bicester Village. They have pretty much been my only trainers, and almost the only shoes I've worn.
The inner sole is feeling a bit thin, but the rest is great.
After my Meindls, these probably have to be the best value shoes I've ever owned.

Haven't really changed too much in terms of weight, no. Main area of issue is around the midsole.

If it's just a support issue, I can recommend these cheap insoles -

They're identical to the ones a podiatrist tried to sell me but a quarter the price. Have had them in all of my shoes for years now.

One for the glue heads.
Outer sole, glow in dark, coming away from foam booster bit.
What glue or just run in them till they fail?

Caveated with the fact that I'm very much not a sneakerhead but a) in my early 50s b) have owned the NBs you refer to I have found Reebok classics to be pretty close and might fit the bill with a wide range of options:

Original adhesives are heat activated and urethane-based so they are flexible and there isn't really a retail/consumer alternative to big 500ml tubs of it (and fumes are evil) but Loctite does Shoe Glue of its own but I haven't used.
Angelus also do a shoe cement for similar price but less DIY friendly.
The old stone island marina stuff is brilliant.
Still reminisce about a hoody the wife made me throw out, think I bought it in 2000. :-/
