  • Got the Scott out for 60k yesterday

    Where did you take it?

  • Your height please? I feel this might be too small, but hoping I can be convinced.
I'm currently suffering a complete overhaul of my current stable :)

  • I'm 186cm, I think....quite long armed, not overly flexible. I bought the bike for low maintenance and in the thin hope I'd be doing some epic multiday things, but hasn't transpired. So I think I've now found a more fun focused frame. This thing flies on the right tyres and I've been pleasantly surprised with it given the fact it was built for someone else.

Current set up pic for ref.

40mm fork sag, now ~30mm so ~25% using the little rider weight scale on the fork. Also, went 5 clicks of rebound from fully wound in (clockwise locking from the bottom, towards the + I think)

Added more pressure to rear (need a digital shock pump, I've no idea what PSI it's at) and it's still not showing on the little scale on the side, so let's call that ~30% but it would be good if there was a better indicator. No idea what the allen keys and clickers and stuff do on the shock. Will ignore.

  • No idea what the allen keys and clickers and stuff do on the shock. Will ignore

    My approach also.

  • Every cunting video shows One Up dropper adjustment taking 2 seconds but of course mine won't fucking go back together. Are the fucking channels for the pins not deep enough? Is the stupid white retainer thing in the wrong place? Fucking droppers can get fucked. Fucking fucks.

Got the cunt white plastic thing further down but now the cunt top cap won't thread more than half a cunting way on. I'm going back to the road. Stupid fucking bikes.

Undo, redo = got the prick. Fucking stupid bike parts.

  • it needs to be like 20mm dropped for the threaded thing to go on btw

  • Yeah, I followed all the vids and had it mid-way down. It was just being a dickhead. Because nothing I ever touch works the way it's supposed to.

  • still want to see a pic of the scott

  • It looks exactly like this except dirtier (oh and with XT 165mm cranks and a 28T chainring and flat pedals)

  • I'm still curious as to where you rode it, given it's December and wet as fuck out there.

  • Actually, I just saw it's a 130mm fork, not 120mm (see how much I care about MTBs?), so my float calculations are off.

  • Uxbridge Road, hitting those sick curbs.

  • Not getting rad at Gurnell? sad face

  • Skate parks at my age presumably = hospital or on some kind of register.

  • straight to fork service

  • XT 165mm cranks and a 28T chainring

I did not know this existed ! what BCD or is it direct mount?

  • I've definitely mentioned it before.

    Direct Mount

    FC-M8100-1
    SM-CRM85 maybe 28T

  • Yeah, literally had a Wanted ad for one:
    https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/388709/

I need to get rid of the original SLX 175mm cranks. I might keep the 32T chainring though. Maybe after 10 years of practice I'll be fast enough to need it.

  • ah I tried to go lower on M8000, couldnt even go 30t, so went raceface affect 24mm axle that just works with shimano BB and a DM chainring

  • DM removes the bigger "BCD requirement" I guess. I've been running the same cranks on the Stanton with a 30T since I got that. What I really should do is put the 28T on the Stanton and the 30T on the Scott but I've got enough dropper dramas to worry about before pissing around with cranks again.

  • What kind of flat pedals do you experts like?
The ones I currently have are a bit thick around the axle and there are no pins there so they feel very floaty.
I prefer them to be wide.

  • I ride Crank Bros Stamp 7s now.

Bigger is better. (says everyone except my shins)

  • Nukeproof Neutron EVO, the plastic ones. Light, grippy, all the colours, don't act as a heat sink in the winter. Cheap enough not to worry about too much when they hit a rock (mine have many scuffs, but haven't failed catastrophically).

  • Actually I also still have a few sets of the CHEAPEST Nukeproofs kicking around on other bikes, like my CX bike or whatever but I love the big platform Stamps.
